So we just moved into a new place and need quite a few pieces of furniture to put the place together.

We moved to the charlotte area about a year ago and I feel like I remember people telling us to go up to hickory to some outlets when we decide to outfit our house, but I dont remember if anyone told us a specific store or if it was just like an outlet area.

Either way, they made it seem that it would be much cheaper up there as it was almost like a tourist location drawing people from all over WNC. This could be complete BS but I had a few people suggest it.

So to my point: Is there a specific store up there anyone would recommend? If so do they or the area in general offer good deals, or is it just the quantity of stores that draws people up there?

We live in the Hickory area & I always assumed the Hickory Furniture Mart only sold very high end furniture. We needed to replace a sofa a few weeks ago. After exhausting all the local discount stores & not finding anything we liked or was within our tight budget I visited by myself before taking the family. My budget was $1400 or less. I found at least 15. The front desk will provide a map & inform you where to look for budget friendly options. They have plenty of opportunities for custom order pieces too if you'd like. The building is vast with many manufacturers. Most all of it it good quality furniture too. Just ask what the frame material is. I've learned from friends that some of the typical places that advertise do not sell very good stuff.
