I volunteer with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America and have been meeting with my little every other week for the past 8 months or so. I'm slowly running out of ideas of things to do / places to go, so I was hoping to get some ideas from everyone here.
What we have already done:

Visited parks (Golden Gate Park, Alta Plaza Park, & Lafayette Park)
Ice Cream (Mitchell's, Salt & Straw)
SF Zoo
California Academy of Sciences
Hit golf balls at the driving range

What I'm considering next:
Exploratorium
Pinball museum in Oakland
Warriors game (kinda worried this might be too crowded / stressful)
Bonus points if it's open later in the evenings (5 PM - 7 PM) so I can take him on weekdays since some weekends I have other plans that make it challenging.

I have two in this age bracket. I've done a TON around town: -Musee Mechanique -Dave and Busters -Urban Putt or Stage coach greens -Libraries/Check out the Discover and Go Portal for free tickets -Exploratorium -Mall (my ten year old loves shopping and the food court) -A's games/Warrior's Games -Aquarium down at Fisherman's Wharf -Yuerba Buena for ice skating and bowling -Ferry Building for dinner -Ferry Ride for fun -Go watch a Little League Game at Treasure Island -USF basketball games -Go on the hunt for the perfect X (we are doing street tacos) -Beaches with friends, skim boarding at Baker Beach -Scavenger Hunt in GGP (that was a fun birthday) -Skate Park, we like Playland in the Sunset -Coit Tower- check out local San Francisco history -China Town/fortune cookie factory I have a million more, was also a teacher in SF and did a ton of field trips Ultimately, they don't need all of the bells and whistles. Just consistency, your attention, and your own special rituals are all that matters. Hope this helped.
