Google translate is pretty accurate for the basic everyday used phrases and it gives Hindi phrases in English alphabets.
India is a country which has people who speak many different languages (we don’t have a particular national languages). Most of them knows English. If you’re planning to visit places other than central India it would be better to stick with google translate rather than buying a Hindi dictionary.
