Once tickets are sold out online, there will be no further tickets available at the castle. You should set aside at least 2 hours to see the main attractions at Edinburgh Castle. Opening times are subject to change. The Western Defences are closed until 31 March. The Crown Room will be temporarily closed from Monday 12 January to April 2026. This is to allow for the refurbishment of the vault and the creation of a new display for the Honours of Scotland ...

Anyone aware whether Edinburgh Castle have any free entry in November?
Not tied St Andrew’s day, but Historic Scotland have their Historic Sundays promotion. They have free tickets available the first au day every month, some venues (like Edinburgh Castle) are very limited but it your quick you can book them https://www.historicenvironment.scot/historic-sundays/ You could always become a member, a full price adult can be purchased for just £4.58 a month, they offer concessions and joint memberships which work out cheaper too. You can visit all their properties including Edinburgh castle as much as you want in the year and you also get a discount in their cafes and shops, loads of events you can attend which are included such as the annual jousting at Linlithgow Palace and a really interesting magazine every quarter. November 5, 2024Getting in free to Edinburgh Castle
It says on their website "Admission to Edinburgh Castle to visit the Memorial only is free of charge on application to Visitor Information. No charge is made for admission to the Memorial itself and the stewards and guides do not accept gratuities." Looking online, you go to the information booth and speak to them and then people say that you are either guided, or the guards keep an eye on you and point you back to the exit when you are done in the memorial. Seems a wee bit scummy to take advantage of a policy designed to allow people to pay their respects to the war dead though. More on reddit.com
