MI- My husband and I bought our house a few months ago and have come to realize the kitchen cabinets are terrible and ugly and were painted very poorly. We have a very small one wall kitchen with a few cabinets above the fridge on the opposite wall. We’ve gotten a few quotes from other companies ranging from full cabinet removal & replacement to refinishing/wrapping. These estimates ranged from $14,000-$24,000 and were way more than we were expecting so we stopped quote shopping.
We went to Home Depot for paint for a different project and got talked into scheduling an appointment with the cabinet designing and resurfacing people at Home Depot today. Kitchen improvements are something we’re both interested in so we went ahead with the appointment. This isn’t our forever home, so we’re not interested in sinking $20,000+ on a completely brand new kitchen - just looking for a bit of an upgrade/improvement.
Has anyone had this service done before? How did it go? Are you happy with the results?

Please understand that Home Depot, Lowe's, and all the other guys do precisely zero amount of the work. They subcontract it all out to local companies that have gone through a screening process. Some of us have had no problems at all. Some have had minor problems what were taken care of. And some of us have had terrible service; sometimes the corporate offices in Atlanta need to be brought in to mediate the dispute. It really seems (to me) to boil down to how well run the local store is run. A great store manager prevents/mediates disputes on his level, so that there is no need to escalate to a higher level.

I looked at having this done when we moved into our new house. When he gave me the quote for 20k I laughed him out of the house. 20k can get you pretty close to an almost full kitchen remodel.

The installer left the job at the end of the week and told me there was nothing more he could do. More · I am pursuing a refund as I consider this a breach of contract. I have contacted the contractor's board, requested a credit card refund, and submitted a complaint to the BBB. Home Depot is now attempting to bully me by sending certified letters telling me that if I do not respond to their letter within 7 days, that means I am satisfied with the installation and that I will no longer pursue a credit card refund!

Refacing means they do replace the doors and hardware with brand new ones. What you are describing is not refacing.
