So I have to disagree (to a point) and I’m not saying your opinion isnt valid but it’s not our job to determine if someone needs or wants or can afford a credit card. That’s up to the customer. You are just offering it. Obviously it’s a way for the store and Citibank to make money. All credit card do. But say one day your water heater dies. Just for argument say a new one costs $500. You work somewhere similar to hd and have no savings. But decent credit because you pay your other things on time. You open a card, get $50 off and make a $100 payment for 5 months no interest. It’s like a free loan if you are smart enough to make sure you pay it off within the 6 months. Also we and the card info is pretty clear that you pay all the interest if it doesn’t get paid off. If a customer doesn’t listen or read that’s on them. I know someone who basically built a whole house on two Home Depot cards and financed for free because the store will usually call for 18 or 24 month interest free if it’s a big purchase and someone asks.
