Take the home depot quote to a local company and see if they can beat it. Ours did, by several thousand dollars. Answer from ad79324 on reddit.com

r/HomeImprovement on Reddit: Is home depot kitchen remodel a good value?
May 1, 2021 -

I did a design with home depot. Picked the 15 thomasville cabinets with a large pantry cabinet, all the features I wanted. They ended up costing $26,000 in total. Pretty ridiculous. But they had a 30% off special going that would knock the price down to $16k. Which I'm thinking isn't too bad. Only thing is the deal ends in 2 days and I have to make this decision before I was quite ready.

Is this 30% off deal truly a good value that might not come around again soon?

r/kitchenremodel on Reddit: Home Depot rep just left and I’m too discouraged to call them back. I’m just DIY: Cabinets & Countertops.

I’ve never done a kitchen makeover before, but HD was quoting $137k for this job. I’m sure it’s correct, but it just felt like they railroaded the entire thing. And she only wanted to talk about replacing the cabinets (and I have 3 options for replacing the cabinets, which I don't really need), someone else would come out to talk about the countertops I guess. I am SURE this is a normal process but I’ve never done it before and I needed someone to help me begin this project. Anyway, that all being said.

The cabinets need to be sanded and painted. I can do that.

The tile is very old and the grout is difficult to clean/work with. We really were looking to replace that. The problem with the tile is that there is so much tile on the walls, so we’d need to get a drywall person to do that.

I can do the cabinets. I can’t work with HD again, they were exhausting and confusing. Are there any other big huge red flags I need to be worried about?

Thanks!!

The green tile is the biggest problem.

Is it always busy with customers? Is there downtime to work on designs or is it mostly doing it off the clock? Does the designer go out to customer sites or is it in house with someone else measuring? MOST IMPORTANTLY Do KD’s still get an apron?

I’ve been in kitchen remodeling for 8 years, half as an installer half as a showroom manager. I enjoy the work, but there’s no more room to grow and the owners aren’t even trying to run it anymore. Looking for a way out but I want to know what I’m realistically getting in to

Looking to do cabinets, countertops, and appliances in my kitchen (basically a remodel) and am being quoted $19-23k by Home Depot estimator. Never having gone through them, any idea how close these estimates usually are? Most stuff is low to mid end.

Thanks!

We are planning a kitchen remodel and I’m wondering if anyone has recently worked with Home Depot for design, custom cabinets, also whether you used them for install and how that was. We did a kitchen in another house (different area) about 10 years ago and it was a good experience.

If you’ve done a kitchen another way that you were happy with, I’d also like to hear about it.

We think this is our forever home so we’re not looking to scrimp but also don’t need something crazy expensive.

December 13, 2015 -

Apologies if this has asked before but I couldnt find it. I am looking to get my kitchen remodeled (cabinets, appliances, counter tops etc etc) and change the floors in my condo. How is Home Depot/Lowes for such a project? I have spoken to a couple of contractors/specialists and compared to them, I really liked Home Depot because it feels like a one stop shop and I am in much more control of the whole process. Also the “ball-park” estimates that the contractors have given me are over my budget and Home Depot/Lowes seem like I would be able to do what I want in my budget.

This is the first time I am doing such a large project so I wanted to know if going to a big box store like Home Depot/Lowes is worth it

Hello! I have a small kitchen and am looking to upgrade it a bit. I like the options Home Depot offers for kitchens and noticed they have a whole design and install service as well. I can do majority of installation myself but has anyone used their design service? Were you satisfied? Was price fair?

Thanks in advance!!

Home Depot Kitchens Reviews 2025: Cost, Pros & Cons
They're not proactive in contacting a customer, the the communication is almost non-existent, and I would suggest they move kitchen design and installment to to third party off-site company. Company. Let somebody competent handle this area. I regret the day I walked into the store. ... Reviewed Oct. 22, 2025 · Don’t use GerrityStone that HomeDepot uses.

Pro kitchen designers vs Home Depot?
If you can draw & measure out your own kitchen plan, do you really need a professional kitchen designer to get to the next stage, or are the free designers at Home Depot good enough? I'd love to hear an opinion from homeowners, not professionals in the trade :)

Has anyone used them for designing a kitchen, and if yes, what did you think of the service they provided? How competitive were their prices? Would you use them again? Many thanks, Laurie · We're starting a kitchen remodel and have done a lot of footwork pricing kitchen cabinets. We found Home Depot and Expo Center to be the most expensive - you'll pay full retail price there.

I'm looking to update a much older home that hasn't really changed since the 60s. I want to renovate the kitchen and the floors.

I'm seeing on Home Depot's website that they offer not just the materials but also installation services?

Has anyone used Home Depot before? What was your experience? Did you save money or did they screw up and you had to go find a local contractor?

Home Depot for remodeling kitchen, good choice?
My kitchen is kind of old, built in 1986. We got new appliances. Now are trying to spruce up our kitchen cabinets and counter top. Cabinets are made of wood, so HD guy told us to reface them. Countertops will be replaced with granite. He gave out a quote, and applied 10% off, etc.

The experts here have some complaints about Home Depot's delivery process too, it seems. Lenzlinger says she never willingly uses Home Depot kitchens, not because of the products because of the process. "They changed my designs so that once installed the cabinets cannot open without banging into the range," she says.
