Had to use a little photoshop to compare? What do yall think?
Hi I'm new to mosaics and am having trouble sourcing tile. I want to be able to cut my own shapes and the only things I'm finding are precut squares or triangles, and they're expensive. Where can I find sheets of ceramic tile to cut to my liking that won't break the bank? Thanks!
Hey folks I’m having a hard time cutting hex penny tile for my kitchen backsplash. I bought a wetsaw from Harbor Freight because I don’t do this for a living, I know their products are not top notch. Either way, I tried cutting the mosaic and the small 1” hexagons are getting ripped out of the netting on the back. One gentleman at Home Depot said that duct taping the back would help but it has not. The stones get ripped off and start moving in every direction.
Any ideas for good clean cuts? HD people said with stone it’s difficult to get a clean cut so the said the nippers were not a good idea.
Thanks!
I would try the nippers first. If that doesnt work, buy a piece of plexiglass and use that on top of the mosaic, so that will hold it down and allow you to see what you are cutting at the same time.
Good Luck.
Wow, Home Depot dropped the ball on that one. Even if you install tile for a living, those porcelain Penny tiles, glued to a mesh are a pain in the ass to cut. To do nice job you have to cut the little bastards one of the time. It's just a pain the hold them when you're trying to cut them on the mat. When the night gets wet they fall off, they twist a little bit and you get a sloppy cut. And yes, Harbor Freight Tools aren't the best, but the diamond blade that comes on their little saw, should be able to cut those tiny tiles. It's difficult to do a nice job with nippers, dress the cut edge with a diamond file. Harbor Freight has a pack of three, yellow, red and blue it's cheap and great for dressing the cuts you make.
I know I can obviously find hexagon and round penny tile styles, but I’d love the square. I’m just having the hardest time finding it. Thanks!
Hey y'all! We are renovating a large room in our house into a master bedroom and bathroom. We had a tile guy lined up to do the bathroom who told us we couldn't use this mosaic sheet tile for the shower walls. I can't find anything that says you can't use this kind of tile. Does anyone have experience with this? We ended up not going with this tile guy due to other various red flags.
