I have a $300 gift card for Home Depot and looking to put that towards purchasing a new washing machine (definitely can be above $300!).
I hated our Whirlpool top load washing machine which broke this week - can't seem to get level and continuously adds water to try and finish the cycle. We previously had an old Amana top load washing machine that came with our house that we absolutely loved - the dial allowed us even greater control over being able to drain and spin clothes is a major piece I'm missing compared to the digital pre-programmed controls on most machines today.
As I do research on Home Depot, I find there's no consistency in the reviews - and have even found that the manufacturers have reviews for other non-related products filtered into the reviews section from their website to boost the reviews (ex: reviews explicitly stating its for a stand up freezer, etc).
I've heard bad things about LG and Samsung. Any recommendations on more modern washing machines? At this point I'm considering just going to FB Marketplace. Appreciate it in advance!
So my apartment complex that I recently moved into less than a month ago didn’t tell me that the washer and dryer they gave me (insignia) that they would be charging me $40 a month for them. To not own them. And I plan on living there for a few years. I told them I’d just give em back, save the $40, and just go by my own.
Now should I go to homedepot to try to get a set financed? I’d like Samsung, Lg, or GE for brands. Big enough for a king size comforter.
Or should I get a set off Facebook marketplace secondhand and hope they don’t break?
I suck at making decisions myself and like getting numerous opinions.
I’m looking into buying an LG stackable washer (WM5700HVA) and ventless dryer (DLHC5502). It is significantly cheaper directly from LG. I’ve always gone through Lowe’s or Home Depot in the past because of their protection plans but I’ve never ended up using the plans. Additionally, I’ve been reading that maybe the plans aren’t super helpful as they may redirect to the manufacturer anyway? I’d love some input on this from people who have purchased directly through LG and purchased the extended warranty as well as people who have actually utilized the protection plans from a big box store.
Furthermore, I’m reading that Lowe’s/Home Depot have a 48 hour return policy should the appliances be defective, where as LG’s return period is 2 weeks. I’m slightly concerned about wanting to return the dryer in case I don’t like how it dries (or rather does not dry well) as this would be my first trial with a ventless dryer. For comparison, I’ve been dealing with a vented Samsung for the last 4+ years that has super annoying drying issues, likely because our vent needs to be super long due to central house location. Yes, I clean it regularly.
