This year, I really want to make some edible christmas gifts (Ideally something that can be used for cooking, but something like food/candy is fine too). I stumbled upon a few infused oil recipes, but they all state that it is a rather risky thing to do in terms of food safety and additionally, the oils only last a few days and only when being refridgerated, and that seems rather unpractical to me. For the past few years I've tried to save money by making gift baskets of homemade food items. It's fun to spend a couple of weeks mass producing different treats, and it feels more meaningful that I've made everything by hand. Here are some of the things I've made in the past: little jars of Dulce de Leche, cherries soaked in maraschino liquor, limoncello, beef jerky, candied pecans, bottles of balsamic reduction, and "Old Fashioned/Manhattan kits" (not homemade, but it fit with the theme).
I'm running a bit low on inspiration for this year. Does anyone have ideas for food that can be made in bulk?
