Hey - after some recommendations for Denver.
Both properties have similar reward night point redemptions for the weekend I wish to stay in October.
What would you say is the better property if you had a choice between them?

Are you going to rent a car? If relying on public transit, the Indigo is a better location since the light rail runs from the airport to Union Station. There’s also more bars and restaurants nearby. The Kimpton is nice but it’s at the other end of the 16th Street Mall (which is currently torn up) and doesn’t have much going on around it.

Planning a trip to Denver. What’s the best IHG property to stay at there? Will be bringing a dog so was thinking Kimpton? If so, which is the best Kimpton as there are 2? Thanks in advance!

Make sure to map the location of the Claret. It’s further out than I expected. I have always had good experiences at the Monaco.

The Claret is nice but its in Denver Tech Center/Belleview. Not in the City Center of Denver. Take a look at google maps for clarity. Its the nicer of the two Kimptons in Denver. I love the Indigo near Union Station though as a second suggestion.

Hi everyone. I am visiting Denver later in the month. I'll be in town for six nights and was thinking about staying downtown for the first three nights and in the mountains for the next three nights. I'm looking for hotel recommendations for both. But I've also heard to avoid downtown so I'm not sure if I should stay in a nearby mountain town like Golden for the entire stay. I want to be close to restaurants, bars and coffee shops, but I also want to go hiking. Most importantly, I want to be in a safe spot.
The hotels that I've looked at in the mountains are Origin Hotel Red Rocks and Eddy Taproom & Hotel. I'm also looking at Estes Park. As far as downtown there are so many options that I don't know what to choose. I have looked at some of the mainstream chains like Embassy Suites and they've gotten some pretty bad reviews. The downtown spots I'm considering are The Thompson and Renaissance Hotel Downtown City Center. My budget is around $150/night but I'm flexible. I'd love any recommendations or guidance as I'm overwhelmed with all the options that I've found in my research. Thanks!

Is there something you're looking to do in Denver proper? People aren't going to tell you to avoid Denver because it's unsafe, it's just not particularly amazing. Like, why are you coming to Colorado? Towns like Boulder, Estes Park are going to give you a little more touristy "in the mountains" kind of vibe. But they aren't really IN the mountains so much as next to them. Further west on I70 is going to get you IN the mountains, as in surrounded by them. Hiking is going to be more of a summertime activity, outside of the front range - so Boulder, Golden, it's going to be covered in snow so you're in snowshoeing territory. No guarantees Boulder and the rest of the front range aren't going to be covered in snow then too. it just snowed but it's all melted now. It's going to be snowy or warm until April, so who knows what the rest of the month is going to bring- could be anything.

If you do stay in downtown denver I recently stayed at hotel indigo. Really close to Union Station which has a train to the airport so it is convenient. Bars and restaurants are walking distance. I rented a car a drove 2hrs to rocky mountain national park to get my nature fix. Hotel is kind of bare bones. Breakfast is abysmal but I really just used it as a place to rest my head.

The Hotel Indigo in San Diego’s Gaslamp area is probably mine. I love that city and area but am looking for other recommendations for points redemption in the USA. Looking for 4 night stays for max points redemption.
I recently got back from the Kimpton Seafire using points and I think I am hooked on the concept lol. Bonus points if you give an international destination as well.

I love the Indigo in Leicester Square in London, it was an old theatre and all the rooms follow that style, plus the view on the London eye at night is insane!

We got upgraded to a junior suite at the Indigo, which was great, but the room location was super weird. It was immediately above the balcony/rooftop bar, so we basically couldn’t have our curtains open after 4pm unless we wanted a crowd able to stare into the room from 10 feet away.
