Randy Lemmon’s advice is to use the Nitro Phos schedule: https://www.nitro-phos.com/feeding-schedule.html But as for as organic goes, I’m not sure. Trying to figure out myself. I’ve read that corn gluten can be used as a pre-emergent, but I haven’t seen much out there on if it’s very effective. Microlife was developed in Houston and has some good products with micronutrients for the lawn. More on reddit.com

Yes, I've been caring for my & my parents lawn for 35 years. Make sure you never use a Weed & Feed!!! Follow Randy Lemmons advice. Here is a LINK to his fertilization schedule & LAWN TIPS . Most of the products can be bought at Houston Garden Centers. Unless you are buying fire ant killer, you will not find the stuff you need at Lowe's or Home Depot so don't even bother. Make sure you always have fire ant killer around. Fire ant mounds pop up all the time. Watch out for Virgina Buttonweed & Carpet Grass, these 2 weed will kill your lawn FAST if you don't get down on your knees & pull ALL of it up. Use Bonide Weed Beater for Southern Lawns to kill weeds in your lawn. It's the best for St. Augustine. Watering schedule LINK More on reddit.com

I have a St Agustine and I live in Houston. Mine is very stressed out but not dead. At this point is too late for you. Next time increase the mowing height during summer 3.5 - 4 inches. You’ll have to cut it every week no way around it. Also follow the Nitro-Phos schedule (you can google them) is a Houston-based fertilizer company and that’s what I use. Hello. Recently purchased our first home about a year ago. I have minimal lawn care experience but am motivated to get the yard greener with fewer weeds so the little one can play in nice grass.
Live in Houston, TX with St. Augustine grass. Front yard is about 2,000 sqft and backyard is another 2,000 sqft. I have decided that I will follow Randy Lemmons schedule this year:

I purchased the following:
-Nitro-Phos Imperial Lawn Fertilizer 15-5-10
-Nitro-Phos Superturf Fertilizer 19-4-10
-Nitro-Phos Barricade Preemergence Herbicide
-Nitro-Phos Fall Special 8-12-16
-Scotts Wizz Hand-Held Spreader
No irrigation system, but I plan to use an Oscillating Sprinkler to cover the rectangular shape of the yard both front/back - just need a watering plan and budget.
My main concern is that there are already a significant amount of weeds that did not exist when we moved in. The Randy Lemmon plan starts off in February with a Fertilizer and Pre-emergent, but this will not eliminate the current weeds, correct?
