I have a well built website that generates me a few solid leads a week that cost me around $4000. I also have Houzz pro which generates me 0-1 leads per week from people that have no money or for projects not in my work area. There's no way to cancel so I will have given them $6000 and received nothing from it aside from wasted time I expect. I'm hopeful there's one project that comes of it so it's not a complete write off. Answer from nhawkeye on reddit.com

r/Construction on Reddit: Houzz Pro - Avoid this awful scam on professionals that generates no real leads and is a rip-off

After a one year commitment to Houzz Pro at a cost of $400 per month our design firm netted 35 clicks or referrals.

For comparison, Google sent over 3,500 people to us. Linked-in with my basic profile sent over 700 distinct enquiries.

Houzz then automatically renewed us on a monthly basis with NO advance warning or any follow up.

On your Houzz-Pro dashboard there is no details of your current subscription costs, end date, pending renewal date.

Nothing.

This is also no way to cancel on your Houzz Pro dashboard. To do this you have to contact your "Success Manager" and personally speak to them one month BEFORE your next payment to cancel.

Houzz and Houzz Pro is definitely not worth the money and with this kind of business model I would rate them as a very dishonest and poor company to do business with.

When we enquired about the lack of results during our "Pro" campaign we were told "add more pictures, add more reviews, add an article"....basically...give us more high quality, free content that we can use on our site for free.

If you have a basic profile then great. The Houzz Pro is a scam, just like the "best of Houzz" badges they give to almost everyone so you promote Houzz on your website.

Just to check, I used a VPN and a private browser to see if my own company would be featured for a relevant search I did for my area and we were not.

Houzz Pro was a rip-off for us.

We’re considering going to Houzz Pro for the backend support it would provide, specifically client communication, change orders, billing/invoicing, takeoffs, estimates, client portal, and the website. The advertising they provide is all an added benefit, not the primary reason we’re considering them.

What thoughts/opinions does everyone have on them? We’re looking at the $100/month plan if that helps.

For those that didn't know, houzz isn't a real PM software. It's an extremely weak scheduling plug-in and marketing scheme designed to trick small business owners into long term contracts they can't get out of. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR MONTHKT BILLING. THERE IS NOT WAY TO CANCEL. When you ask to cancel, they send you the fine print from the paperwork that says there's not cancelation.

r/homeowners on Reddit: Pressured to leave 5 stars on houzz
April 2, 2024 -

Hi Everyone - first time homebuyer here, and last year I signed a contract with a landscape designer to take on a significant project for me (new fence, stonework, landscaping, tree removal…)

TL:DR his work has been gorgeous in the end, but working with him has been a nightmare. He’s now pressuring my to give him a 5 star review but I don’t think he’s earned it.

He’s gone $20k over budget, he makes me feel guilty for asking questions, and has told me he “expects a 5 star review” on houzz because he “went above and beyond.” In texts with me he has told me to not “go cheap” when asking for an additional $11k, he’s been defensive and rude when I’ve pointed out concerns, etc… overall he’s been very rude and very hard to work with.

He has my cell number and (of course) home address and I am worried about retribution. I left him an overall 5 star review but then gave him 3 stars for communication and 4 stars for value.

He has since emailed me to accuse me of taking punitive action against him, and is clearly trying to guilt me into amending my review. At the same time there’s a tiny bit of work unfinished that he’s trying to get me to pay extra for. This is despite his work being under warranty - he installed irrigation that doesn’t work and so fixing it should be under warranty.

The finished work is so pretty and I am so happy with it - but the feeling of being manipulating into being dishonest with my reviews feels terrible. I want to be honest about my experience with his company but don’t know what to do.

If y’all were me how would you move forward? Cut ties and find someone else to finish the irrigation? Hold him accountable to the warranty and tell him to finish? Rewrite my review with honest feedback?

r/Design on Reddit: Houzz Pro: Opinions from Interior Designers
January 8, 2025 -

Hello and good afternoon. I work for a small business, interior design firm. We have used Houzz pro for a long time, but recently, they told us in 2 months our monthly prices is shooting up by about 600%.

They are trying to justify this by features they are adding, but we won't even touch these new features, Like handling contracts though Houzz Pro or having them host a website.

We have had a handful of problems with them, but because of our extensive inventory data kept on Houzz Pro, it will be quite a pain to leave the platform.

I am curious on if any other design firms are going through a similair situation.
