How accurate is CPUID HWMONITOR exactly? (showing unusually high cpu frequencies) | Tom's Guide Forum
November 1, 2018 - I wanted to use open harwdare monitor but it refused to give me any temperature readings (or indeed ANY readings) for the ryzen 7 2700. Is there some known accuracy issue with HWMONITOR or does ryzen just turbo up into 6GHz+ without overclocking with adequate cooling?

r/pcmasterrace on Reddit: Is HWMonitor reliable?
December 22, 2014 -
HWMonitor is tell me that the temp of my CPU is at 97 degrees Celsius, or 206.6 degrees Fahrenheit. I really doubt that my CPU is running over 200 degrees and still in a solid form.
Edit: I have an APU, but the graphics part of it is only running at 45 degrees Celsius

That seems a bit high but i would think it would be possible if you have bad airflow or alot of dust in your system, im sure it could still operate at that temperature without instantly being destroyed, atleast for some period of time.
I use Realtemp for my CPU temps and GPU-Z for my GPU temps

It's as reliable as your sensors' ability to communicate temps correctly.

HWMonitor Vs Core temp Which one to Download for PC Temperature Solved - Windows 10 Forums
February 28, 2018 - Like sometime there is a 10 degree Celsius difference between HWMonitor and CoreTemp. They should all report exactly the same but some programs apply different offsets to the figure reported by the sensors I believe. I use TPFanControl to set fan speed on my ThinkPad and in that you can manually define the offset for the various sensors to get the actual temperature. I adjusted them to match HWiNFO. I find HWiNFO the most accurate and comprehensive (it shows more sensors than Aida64 or HWMonitor).

CPUID HWMonitor accuracy? - Windows 7 Help Forums
March 11, 2011 - I'm not interested in great accuracy - approximate numbers are fine. HWMonitor reports my +12V monitor as between +1.26 and +1.34. The +5V VCCH monitor reads consistently at +3.63V. These aren't off just a little bit. Reports in various forums for various monitors have many complaints about ...

Is HWMonitor or Bios temperature readings more accurate? | Tom's Hardware Forum
October 19, 2009 - In answer to your question, HWMonitor and the BIOS both read their data from the same chip on the motherboard. Temperatures will read different in Windows and BIOS because BIOS temps are pure idle, and in Windows your CPU is usually doing something. I still don't trust these values as being accurate but are useful for finding if things look correct (e.g.

May 30, 2011 - No software is accurate for voltage readings coming from the PSU. Even if it has full support for your chipset, the readings software gives and what you'll see from a multimeter will vary, and it can be a significant difference(I've seen the +12v reading being off by more than 10% when comparing HWMonitor and Everest to a multimeter).

Yes, but the data may not be as accurate as when monitoring a physical machine. Virtual machines often rely on the host system's hardware, so the metrics may be somewhat skewed. However, you can still get a general idea of how the virtual system is performing.
