I usually just tell people that all the processes they find annoying generates important data and that it’s my job to ETL, manipulate, and serve that data as relevant, actionable information (usually via reporting) that other people can use to make decisions. I'll use a sports analogy. BI is the box score. It's reads the transcript of what happened. Analytics is the color commentary/post-game recap. It tells the story of what happened. DS is the game plan for how to win the next game. These all exist together as a 3-way venn diagram rather than 3 separate circles.
