Yeah, follow these instructions Apple Support it's very straightforward and simple. The only thing that will change is your Apple ID (primary email associated with the account). All your data remains untouched. Just make sure you have, or are changing from, a trusted device, and that you know your password, passcodes, etc.

When my Dad first bought all of our phones (mine, his, and my mom's) years ago, he put all of them under the same email address. This has been an issue in the past but has caused more issues recently when we got new iPhone 16s. I think because the is an electronic SIM card. I'm now getting some of my mom's texts and she is getting some of mine. I want to know how to fix this? I assume I have to change my email address associated with the Apple ID but I don't want to lose my photos or messages or mess up either of my parents data. I just want my phone on my own account. Can anyone talk me through it?? or point me in the right direction

You need to sign out of the current one and create your own account with your email. When you sign out, it will give you the option to delete data from your phone or keep it. If you keep it and then sign in to a new account, all your data will then sync to the new account. Also, any data you delete after signing in to the new account will NOT affect it on the current one. ie, if you sign into your new account and then delete your mom's texts, they won't delete from her account, only yours. You can use Family Sharing if you want to share purchases. If the current account has upgraded storage, you can also share that (the data isn't shared, you just have access to the larger storage pool). Make sure that each family member has a unique Apple Account Sign out of iCloud on your devices If you want to be safe and manually back up data: Archive or make copies of the information you store in iCloud

If you go to settings > iCloud and then turn off Find My iPhone and enter the password for your new Apple ID ( it will still show your old Apple ID but the password for your new Apple ID will work), once Find My iPhone has been turned off you should be able to delete your old iCloud account. Then sign in with your new Apple ID! To download and update apps you will need to go to settings > itunes & app store click on your old apple id in blue, click sign out, then sign in with your new apple id and password! Thank you ThatBroisGuyy !! That was absoluely brilliant !! I was reading alot of topics about changing the iclouds but no one mentioned this. This is definitely a bug that apple needs to fix where it desplays the old email and accepts the new emails password
