I was extended an offer for a tech company in the bay area which was contingent to successfully passing a background verification and a drug test conducted through Hireright. As recreational consumption of marijuana is decriminalized here in CA, I was an avid user before I found out, and used to smoke on a regular basis. I stopped once I knew about the drug test on the offer letter.
I went through a urine and a hair drug test. (Urine came back negative-dilute, which triggered the hair drug test). The background check was going to take its time, so I was allowed to start working (There is a clause in the offer letter regarding my termination if I was placed on the payroll and the background check/drug test returned unsatisfactory).
I received a notification and the background report from Hireright on Dec 3 in the morning. It verified that the urine test was "Complete - Negative-Dilute", and the hair drug test was "Complete - Negative Result". The result on the report says "Pending, Client review required". There are no specific details or comments as to anything on the report, so there is no way for me to know if it is satisfactory or unsatisfactory.
I haven't heard back from my HR rep yet, and I was wondering if there will be any notification given to me about success or failure of my background verification. Can someone tell me how this works?
TL;DR - I received a background check report and now I am wondering if I passed/failed due to my chronic drug use which returned a negative on the report. Will I be contacted to share the actual results, or will there be no further communication from HR in case of a satisfactory result? (I know that in case of an unsatisfactory result of the background/drug verification, I will obviously be contacted or terminated from my position).
I recently got an offer letter for a new job and got a background check started for me last week Thursday. I got a email for filling out onboarding documents today. Does that mean I passed the background test? I was worried because I have a DWI on my record from 2 years ago that I never disclosed to them. Does the onboarding email mean I passed my background check?
I had applied for a job. I had a phone interview, an information session, and then I got a phone call with a job offer(which was conditional upon completing background check, finger printing, a drug screening, and a whole lot of paper work).
I filled out all the paper work, went to onboarding, was finger printing, had my drug screening, and I was just waiting on my background check to be completed.
Two days ago my background check was completed but I hadn’t heard from the hiring manager yet. Then last night I received an email stating I was being welcomed to the team with a work email attached.
Does this mean my background check was fine and I’m finally done with the hiring process? I had read that I would be told whether I passed or failed the background check. Which I haven’t heard anything regarding my background check.
I’m sure this is a stupid question, but how do you know? I’m a federal employee who went through e-QIP in 2021 and then again in 2023 when I changed roles at the same agency as part of a direct hire initiative. In 2021, I was contacted with some clarifying questions, but then nothing further. In 2023, I heard nothing and was given an EOD for the new role approximately 6 weeks after I completed e-QIP. I’m assuming that means all clear, but I have a colleague who says I should have something in my eOPF, which I do not. I wouldn’t normally care, but I received a TJO to another agency yesterday and want to make sure all is in order.
While, I don't have any criminal record. But I did walk out of my last job could they contact my former employer if they got fired after I left
I received an email earlier today, to see my results and when I opened it.
Pursuant to your request, attached is a copy of your consumer report that was requested by
It read "the report is not indication of acceptance or a rejection of your employment or service.
But I'm if my background check has been done if so how would I know if I passed it or not
On my Resume I have the Year I worked at my most recent place of employment and not the date. On the application for the company it did not ask for dates, just to upload the resume.
I was let go from my job a few months ago and lied to the Hiring Manager that I still currently work there. I have only spoken about it with her and not HR or anyone else.
For the Background Check, if I put the correct dates I worked there I would pass the background check.
Once the background check is cleared does the Hiring Manager see the results of the background check which would show I have been unemployed for months and she would know I lied?
This is a multi national corporation so It’s possible that she would not see the results of the background check and just get the Okay from HR.
Can any managers confirm if they see the Background Check Results or not?
If it safe to assume that if the firm has requested my Form I-9, shipping address for the laptop, and an employee ID photo that I’m in the clear? I’m trying to figure out if I can give notice at my current job and their recruiter is out on vacation. Thanks
I would assume background check has cleared because that is usually what they ask for after that. Does the recruiter’s email say who to contact since she is on vacation? If so reach out to that person.
Did they request those other things after background check was authorized or alongside it?
I recently got a new job and don’t have a clear background check but awhile after I authorized background check, I got a notification for next steps like I9 so you’re probably fine. I think being told you cleared the background check isn’t usual- more like no news is good news.
I would get back to them on the things they requested and throw in a “please let me know if there are any pending items or more information needed”
Do they tell you, or if you don’t get a rescinded offer do you just assume it’s fine?
I got a job offer contingent on background check done by ADP About 2 weeks ago. Haven’t heard anything until sometime last week when I received a email giving me my start date and time and to bring in my license and social for I9 forms. Also received welcome email and portal login to do onboarding paperwork. Does this mean that I passed my background check and I was hired?? Just wondering because I have not heard anything at all on what it looks like
I applied for a Package Handler position in Portage, MI.
Did all the documentation and passed my background check, but its been almost 5 days and I haven't heard anything back about next steps, is there anyone I can contact to get information from? I've tried a few times to request an update from their "Olivia" bot but nothing comes of it, what do I do?
(Forgive me if I used the wrong flair, I wasn't sure what this fell under so I used the one most likely to have something to do with the hiring process.)
Background here. I was convicted of a felony DUI in Arizona back in 2007. Served my time, and did probation. Haven't had any legal problems since then. In 2012 I finished chiropractic school and had my record expunged before getting licensed to practice. (This wasn't a requirement, just a recommendation by the board to show that I was serious about rehabilitation of my one past indiscretion.) At that time, my lawyer advised that I specifically NOT request to have my gun rights restored, because it could get the whole petition denied. He said the court wanted to wait 10 years before restoring gun rights. So I waited. Had my expungement approved. Then, in 2019 I applied again SPECIFICALLY for restoration of my right to own a gun. Again, this was approved by the court in Arizona. All paperwork I have now says that I have all legal rights restored to me, specifically owning a gun, but this felony WILL still show up on background checks. I can legally answer "no" on all legal paperwork asking if I have been convicted of a felony, because the felony has been expunged, but I don't know how this will show up for a background check when I go to purchase a gun. Is there a way I can run a check myself? or have a dealer run it first? Before starting the purchase process?
