Have they gotten rid of it permanently? I feel like, at the rate they've been stripping features from online tracking, within a year or two it's literally just going to tell you when your package has shipped, and when it's been delivered. Seems to be a trend toward greater opacity between corporations and both their customers and their employees/contractors.

Honestly that feature was terrible for the drivers. I had customers finding me on my brakes, driving into industrial parks, blocking me in on docks, walking into docks and businesses, being coming safety hazards, just so they can get their Nikes. I’ve had people threaten to hurt or kill me just because I told them, “sorry I can’t get to your package right now” or “I have to deliver all my air first” or “Sorry my truck is too packed” or “I just don’t have it”
it was just not worth it

The tracker is pointless. No way to know when you're the next stop. Saying they're nearby means nothing since drivers go in any order they feel like

hello! is there a way to track where the UPS truck is? I have an emergency and my son can not leave work to sit at my house all day to wait for the package. I also leave for vacation tomorrow so won’t be back for a while.

I'm just a nonbusiness UPS customer and can't provide a definitive answer, but if I log in to my free UPS account when a package is marked 'out for delivery' I usually see a map showing the truck's location relative to my home. If I manually refresh the screen every 5 minutes or so it shows the truck changing locations as it makes its rounds towards my house. I did that this morning and watched the truck make its way around my area for an hour before it was shown just down the block, and then it arrived. The map is supposed to update automatically, but that does not always happen, and there is no running update to the estimated delivery window or anything. Also be aware that it can be frustrating if the truck gets near your area, then leaves that area temporarily. In that case the truck and map can disappear for a while.
