Creating a fixed seating firepit area. The fire-pit is of one foot radius (burn area) with another foot of border for keeping utensils or foot. Basically a four foot diameter round circle. The pit will be surrounded with a round cement bench… of cource with an opening for entrance :) Question is, how far should the edge of the bench be from the edge of the fire-pit? Secondly, how deep should be the seating bench cushion? Basically i am trying to figure out the bench location and dimensions for comfortably enjoying the fire-pit

This is not so much about comfort as it is practicality. Check your city codes before you build so that you don't end up with a do-over. Distance between seating and burn area depends on whether it is gas or wood. Wood burns hotter. You probably want two to two and a half feet from the edge of the firepit.
