How much space would you give between fire pit and deck?
I believe code here is 10 ft minimum from any structures or plants, but 20 ft is the "recommended" I'd check your local fire code to be sure. More on reddit.com

r/landscaping on Reddit: Fixed seating distance from firepit
March 7, 2022 -

Creating a fixed seating firepit area. The fire-pit is of one foot radius (burn area) with another foot of border for keeping utensils or foot. Basically a four foot diameter round circle. The pit will be surrounded with a round cement bench… of cource with an opening for entrance :) Question is, how far should the edge of the bench be from the edge of the fire-pit? Secondly, how deep should be the seating bench cushion? Basically i am trying to figure out the bench location and dimensions for comfortably enjoying the fire-pit
