Best Buy iPhone battery replacement requires specific security features to be turned off prior to service (which needs to be started one hour prior to arrival at your appointment time so it can be done within a 15 minute window) and to replace a battery requires 4 hours. Is this security procedure, 4 hour timeframe & specific battery part superior to a walk-in phone fix-it type place? Do you get a better battery? I’m assuming the prerequisite security procedure is necessary to ensure data does not get deleted or lost?

Doing the repair the right way (through the Genius Bar or Geek Squad) ensures that you get a genuine battery and that nothing inside gets damaged along the way. Fix-it places cannot get genuine parts and generally have no liability for when something goes wrong.

Hey, just to clear up why you have been quoted for 4 hours bc some differing answers, I am a current ara(advanced repair agent) with geek squad i have done a fair share of iPhone battery most are held in with a command strip like adhesive this adhesive can be rather easy to get out via a pair of tweezers and some twisting and pulling but often times that adhesive is dried and fragile and it breaks the second you try to pull it out if that's the case you will be forced to pry it out via what we call black sticks after it is out you have to scrape that adhesive off, on top of scraping the display adhesive taking of and puting back in screws and possibly the tapticengine and speaker depending what kind of iPhone it is it might take awhile it also gives us extra time in case they run into any issues in the post repair diagnostics(makes sure all part are working correctly after repair) most experienced tech can get it done in a hour or two but may take longer for a inexperienced tech that's also why you should leave a alternative phone # if you have it so if it is done faster they can contact you

I got my iPhone 13 Pro Max battery replaced on-site/in-house last year may 2023. It was pretty much simple. They did first check to see if they had the battery in stock ready to go. They didn’t so they had to order it. Once it was ordered and was in stock at the store, they ran hardware diagnostic on it and then proceeded to tell me how much it was ($89) and then took about 2-3 hours for the battery replacement. They then offered me AppleCare+ to put on since it technically was eligible for it after repair. I definitely said yes lol. So it was pretty much quick and simple (If you have the patience to wait that long). Basically the same experience as an Apple Store.

When I had mine done at the apple store it took 45mins. I scheduled an appt at Best Buy and they didn't even have a battery and it would take days to get one in.
