Edit: Turns out my wardrobe has much more space than I was giving it credit for. Most of my stuff can fit in there, to the point that I will only need a small about of storage. I guess that's a lesson in not overthinking things.
I just moved into a new flat, I've got a relatively small bedroom (about 3.38m x 2.61m) and I'm having trouble figuring out a good furniture layout. The main things I want are: A double bed, a computer desk (ideally 140cm x 60cm), a dresser and a bookcase (or some form of shelves/storage). Since I am renting I don't want to put any holes in the wall, so I am wary of floating shelves (although I'm willing to try it if there are clear enough benefits and I can do it safely).
Here are the layouts that I have tried so far (furniture and art are just placeholders):
Design 1: The first layout I tried. The mirror is definitely a bit awkward (my actual wardrobe door is flat), and the bookcase right in front of the door is definitely awkward.
Design 2: Better lighting for a webcam, better mirror placement, I'm mostly happy with the layout but I don't like the useless space in the corner with the dresser/bookcase. Floor plan for reference. I also don't know how I feel about the rubbish bin and laundry basket being right next to the door.
Design 2.5: If I replace the bookcase with something narrower then I can also fit a bedside table. Makes accessing the shelves a little awkward though. Perhaps I can put the bedside table on wheels, so I can move it out of the way when I want?
Design 3: If I bite the bullet and get a shorter (120cm) desk. Makes desk space a lot more cramped but is doable I think. The furniture arrangement is also a lot more straightforward.
Design 4: Also with a shorter desk. There's something nice about the bed being in the middle of the room but it does make desk space more cramped and reduces the usefulness of the remaining space, eg. if I want to do exercise or something.
I'm mainly focusing on arrangement at the moment rather than decor, but I would appreciate advice on how to make things look nice. My budget is pretty tight (maybe up to $1000 after the base furniture) so I can't go too crazy.
Many thanks for any advice.

i need help on how to layout the furniture in my room effectively and maximize the space. the sketch i ve made is not really that true to size. i already have a king size bed which im thinking of changing because it takes up most of my room, but how else can i make more space including the fact that i need a lot of storing space for books, notebooks and clothes. i also want a small couch in front of my tv. what do you think?
I need to be able to fit a twin bed and some sort of clothing storage in this room (closet is a shoebox). The problem is that it is so small and the layout of doors/windows makes it challenging.
For reference:
Twin bed length 75in (we’ll say 80 including frame)
Door 36in
Wall one 117 in Wall two 134 in
Attached is the room blueprint, a picture of the room (albeit a bad one- we just moved in please excuse the mess, and the furniture we currently have
I’m turning this room into my home office and babe cave, but I’m struggling so much with how to fit furniture in the space. I definitely need the desk/drawers, which is 6ft long x 2ft wide, and then maybe 2ft extra so I can move the chair out.
I want to add a spot for my friends and I to hang out and watch tv. I found a tv stand that’s 32in long x 16in wide. Ideally I’d want a couch that can fit 3 people, but I’m open to 3 comfortable chairs. I would want a coffee table between the couch and tv stand.
I’m also hoping to switch the closet doors so they don’t take away 2 feet of space from the layout.
I’d love some advice on how I can arrange the room to have a layout where everything will fit, without making the space seem super cramped. Thank you 💖
Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice! I'm buying my first home with my partner and we're trying to figure out the best way to arrange the furniture in the bedroom - I've put the floorplan with dimensions and plugs / radiator / window positions first, then some options and the pictures of the room at the end

Thoughts? Thank you!
Edit to update: I realised I absolutely hated the towering mass of the wardrobe in front of the bed anyway, we're going with option 4 with a mix of bookcases and drawers in front of the bed for more clothing storage space
Hi there!
I’m seeking advice on whether I have my bedroom set up in the best way to maximise space, vibes, etc. and potentially fit in a little couch. A few key points:
-
arrangements are somewhat limited as 3/4 walls have doors on them that I need to access. The brown doors to outside are the only source of sunlight for my room
-
it needs to fit in my bed, a desk, my record player + stand, and my puppy’s crate (could downsize to a smaller one if need be)
-
the tv has to stay where it is for wiring reasons
-
I would LOVE to have a little couch (two-seater kind of size) in here instead of the armchair, as I just don’t find myself using it - I feel crammed into the corner there with the tv over my head, I can’t really watch tv or anything from there, and I like curling up in a way an armchair that size doesn’t really allow.
Any tips for configuring the room and how I could potentially fit a little couch in would be much appreciated! I’ve attached photos of the room and the floor plan.
TIA! :))
25M. I’ve never loved the furniture arrangement in my bedroom. I work from home & need to keep my desk in my room, which certainly takes up a lot of bedroom space. I hate having my back to the door when I’m working but don’t really know how to fix that.
Do you notice anything i could be doing better? Any and all recommendations are welcome!!
(and yes i know my cable management skills are severely lacking lol)
Context: 1- first picture im standing in my doorway. 2- Behind the big mirror is my closet. 3- Underneath the piano is the only place my router can be plugged into the internet
Everything in here can be swapped out. It’s just random marketplace stuff. Except we will keep the double mattress. Could get a different bedframe.
There's not really anything particularly odd about this room but I can't for the life of me figure out why none of the furniture feels “right” where it’s at. The tv is on the wall to the right as you come in with the bathroom door just beyond.
We’re going for a dark/whimisigoth vibe — the dark green is what the entire room is now after I super hated that leprechaun green.
The furniture stays (though I realize its not very whimsigoth) and the moving the bed or tv would require a lot of negotiation with my husband (because both were a total PITA to move and install — we originally had the bed on the one non-window door wall) but could be done.
Suggestions?
Hey All! I am looking for some suggestions on how better arrange my bedroom. For the most part, I really like my room, but very strongly dislike the bed being right up on the wall as it makes it very inconvenient to make the bed, put on sheets, etc. For some background, the dimensions of the room and items within are as follows:
-
Bedroom: 12'11" x 11'1.5"
-
Bed Frame (Queen size bed): 85" x 62"
-
Dresser: 67.75" x 17.5"
-
Desk: 74.5" x 25"
I live in a one bedroom apartment and work from home. The living room is full with normal furniture (couch, TV stand, etc.) so moving the desk out there really isn't plausible for me. I may be able to move the dresser into the closet but that would require removing one of the storage hangars which I would like to avoid if possible. Is there any better way to arrange my current setup, or is this pretty much the best it is going to get with the size constraints?
Thanks so much in advance! Cheers!
