February 29, 2024 - Putting your fireplace over your TV offers an easy solution to the problem. This way, you can make the most of both the cosy display of your flames while still being able to watch your TV.

March 15, 2025 - This smaller rug can be placed in the center of the room and that defines the furniture placement area. That’s why it’s a better choice. Since the fireplace is angled, placing a sofa angled toward it, would impede on a lot of floor space, not to mention it will be smack in the center of a couple of pathways. Instead, I chose to place a smaller ‘studio’ size sofa slightly off the back edge of the rug and facing the wall next to the fireplace where the TV will go.

June 9, 2021 - So we have no tv in the front parlor (living room) where the fireplace is and use a projector with screen instead of a traditional tv in the second parlor (den). The two rooms are separated by pocket doors, and we have the screen mounted above them. The furniture is oriented so that the two rooms flow well together for parties (remember parties?) with no visible tv pulling focus, but we have a (big enough to satisfy my husband, giant to me) tv when we want it.

Then I had a Walter e smith guy come in and he drew up some sketches. He centered everything around the fireplace with leave so much empty space on either side of the fireplace, also when I moved my couch into the center of the room only the person closest to the tv can see it.

January 7, 2025 - With a corner fireplace in an open plan living space, the best option is usually to face your sofa toward the flat wall, place your TV on that wall, and then the back of the sofa will serve as a room divider.

I don't have any problem with a furniture arrangement that does not face a fireplace. Think of the living room set from the TV show Frazier - see link below.
