My phone recently lost all its data, including my WhatsApp chats. Thankfully, I'm still logged in to WhatsApp Desktop. Is there any way to use the data there to create a backup and transfer it to my new phone?

so my phone died three days ago and the data isn't accessible (storage chip fried). I had backups of almost everything but Whatsapp (I only have a full phone backup including the app data from over a year ago :( ). I still can access and chat using the desktop app and all the messages and multimedia from the last year+ is available there. I have done a bit of research but its all so convoluted and everyone seems to have their own way to recover chats. I saw many people backing up from Whatsapp Web using chrome extensions but that sadly doesn't work on the Windows 10 app. Some say that you can read the chats from the Windows 10 app files (which I already backed up). I also found one guy that said that when I log in to Whatsapp on my new phone the chats will just appear, but I'm scared to do this in case I'd be logged out of the desktop app.
TL;DR My phone's dead but I can still access Whatsapp from the desktop app - can I back up/recover/transfer the data to my new phone?
