Turn on a Focus mode (For example do not disturb). I created a new one. Then in the Settings for that Focus mode, choose to silence Notifications from that person, and turn on the toggle for “Allow Calls for Silenced people”. On the same page, scroll to the bottom and add a Focus filter for Messages. Turn on “Filter by People List” To not miss any message from other apps, choose “silence notifications from” and leave it blank This basically hides that person from your Message list whenever that Focus mode is on. When you go to Messages, you should see a notice saying “Filtered by Focus” and you can toggle it on/off. Never did figure this out. I stopped replying to texts and explained I would only accept phone calls. Now I call her every day on my lunch break to touch base and it seems like the constant communication that way has helped change the channels in which we talk.
