I've never installed bitlocker (and apparently it's not been pushed through the active directory) and therefore never get the key. But today my laptop crashed so I wanted to perform a restore or login in safe mode but I'm unable to to all this because I need to go through bitlocker first. And I can go further as I've no key. You'll probably understand that you answer suggesting to reinstall Windows, wipping the data is not acceptable as I've valuable data on my drive which can't be lost. If BitLocker was enabled automatically (common on Windows 10/11 Home with “Device Encryption”), the recovery key should be listed there. Worst case scenario you will need to reinstall windows. Going forward, you should have at least two backups of your photos and files on services like Google drive and OneDrive as well as a portable drive as a hardcopy. More on reddit.com

I had the same issue following an essential BIOS update flagged up in Dell Support Assist. Our IT dept couldn't resolve it, but I managed to by doing the following: - BitLocker is prompting for a Recovery Key and you cannot locate the key * Restart the system* At the Dell Logo keep tapping F2* You will enter the BIOS screen* Go to Secure Boot header, expand and select Expert Key Management* Click the Restore Settings button* Select Factory Settings* Press OK* Exit the BIOS and restart Windows should now launch as it did before, even my last browser session appeared and lost nothing from c:\ drive! Still not resolved? Use the 'Get Help Now' option at the bottom right to chat with a Dell technician right away. Video on TPM/Bitlocker:

I was plugging the power cable to my dell laptop and turned on my laptop simultaneously and got locked out of my laptop, It's asking for bitlock recovery key and I don't have it, please help me with getting access to my laptop, i have lots of memories in it. i posted earlier about restarting my computer with a USB Windows 10, which i have all ready. Its all ready to be set up except it says windows 10 can't be downloaded on any of my partitions.. the only one it could be downloaded on is blocked by BitLocker. "Bitlocker Encryption is enabled". I can't disable it because i can't get into the laptop (locked out) to access the control panel. idk if all of this makes sense ive been working on this all day... 🤕

These instruction only help if you don’t have to have whatever is on that drive. If you need the data well sucks to suck… Boot into a windows USB and press shift f10 at the Same time once it’s loaded to the begin page. Pull up diskpart> list disk (find the disk you’re looking for) >select disk (don’t select your usb, only drive you want to reinstall on) > clean (literally the command). Then try to reinstall since that drive is now fresh with zero data.

My Dell shuts off on its own and when i tried to open it it is now asking for a Bitlock Recovery Key. I dont want to lose my data since I have some pretty important stuff in there, but in order to do any kinds of back up files or saving data I need the recovery key.
