Mean, Median, Mode Calculator
November 4, 2025 - The mean is the same as the average value of a data set and is found using a calculation. Add up all of the numbers and divide by the number of numbers in the data set. The median is the central number of a data set.

[Basic Statistics] Calculating mean, mode, and median of grouped variables.
Even though this won't give you the "exact" mean / median - It would give you a good estimate for it. You can find the Mid-point for each frequency range. For example 18-20 - the midpoint would be 19 given by (L + U)/2 You'll then use those mid points as your data . For example if you have 5 people between 18-20 then you would be 19 , 19 , 19 , 19 , 19. Once you've then turned your group values into single values you can calculate your mean etc. More on reddit.com

When is it best to use the mean, mode, and/or median when asked for the average?
Everyone is saying the mean but it largely depend on your data. If your data is symmetrical and has no real outliers then using the mean is your best bet. If your data is skewed and has outliers then the mean wont be accurate, you should use the median in this case. More on reddit.com

ELI5: What is the distinction between the mean, median, and mode of a data set?
Mean is the average of all your numbers, median is the middle number when they're in order, and mode is the number that appears the most. If the set of numbers is 20, 20, 50, 80, and 100, then the mean would be 54, the median would be 50, and the mode would be 20. More on reddit.com
