How To Calculate P-Value in Excel Using Two Methods | Indeed.com
Input your data samples into an Excel spreadsheet. Gather the number of tails and the type of t-test you want to perform. Use the formula =T.TEST(array 1, array 2, tails, type.)For example, if you have one data set in cells B2 through B15 and another in cells C2 through C15 you can type both a single-tailed function or a two-tailed function:=T.TEST(B2:B15, C2:C15, 1, 1)=T.TEST(B2:B15, C2:C15, 2, 1)Related: Null Hypothesis: What It is and How It Works (With Example)

How to analyse the P-value?
To analyze the P-value, you need to compare it with the level of significance or alpha value. If the P-value is less than the alpha value, then you reject the null hypothesis and accept the alternative hypothesis. If the P-value is greater than the alpha value, then you fail to reject the null hypothesis.

October 31, 2024 - The T.TEST() function in Excel compares the means of two datasets and assesses if their difference is statistically significant. Here’s the formula to calculate it: ... tails: Specifies whether you're performing a one-tailed (1) or two-tailed (2) test. (A two-tailed test considers both directions of the difference, while a one-tailed test focuses on a specific direction.) type: Denotes the type of t-test (1 for paired, 2 for two-sample assuming equal variances, 3 for two-sample assuming unequal variances).

January 31, 2025 - For example, when you want to determine if a new manufacturing process reduces the average defect rate compared to the old process, you can conduct a one-tailed test. 1. Input your data into two separate columns. 2. Select an empty cell where you want the p-value to appear. 3. Type the formula =T.TEST(array1, array2, tails, type) where: • "array1" and "array2" are the ranges of data for the two samples.

Z.TEST function - Microsoft Support
This article describes the formula syntax and usage of the Z.TEST function in Microsoft Excel. Returns the one-tailed P-value of a z-test. For a given hypothesized population mean, x, Z.TEST returns the probability that the sample mean would be greater than the average of observations in the data set (array) — that is, the observed sample mean.

June 30, 2022 -
Hi, can someone please help me with the correct formula for P Values? Here is what I am working with:
X-bar is 28.6% and sample of 40 therefore;
z=-1.58= p(z<-1.58) with a d.f. of 39.
I've tried T.DIST.RT but it doesn't seem to provide the correct output. The answer is 0.0571, but I am not sure how to get there?
Thank you so much!

April 24, 2025 - When you calculate a p-value, remember that it's influenced by factors like sample size and effect size. A statistically significant result (p ≤ α) doesn't necessarily mean the effect is large or practically important. On the flip side, a non-significant result (p > α) doesn't always mean there's no effect at all. It's all about context and understanding what the numbers are really telling us. If you're working with data in Excel, you're in luck—Excel offers several methods to calculate p-values, helping you determine the statistical significance of your data.
