Literally the only Apple product I use is Apple Music. Its such a good program. I needed to reset my password though because of some janky UI stuff with Apple Music. So I try to reset my password from my S22. "Use an apple device." So I grab my wife's iPhone, "put in the password from the iPhone you are trying to reset." Apple, wtf is that? Not everybody has an iPhone because not everybody wants an iPhone. Why do I need an iPhone to reset my password? Why do I need a Mac or an iPad to reset my password in a timely manner? Why tf should I need to buy into your ecosystem to RESET MY PASSWORD? Is there a workaround for this or will I get the joy of waiting for a few days for a password reset?

You would be posting and complaining if Apple just allowed any old password reset no questions asked. Having suitable recovery information on your account is your responsibility not Apples.

The only reason it would ask for the password on an iphone on the account, is because there has been an iphone logged into the account. Otherwise, you can do trusted number, or can setup the old long security key. What you are doing is account recovery, thats different to just resetting a password. So no, this is the system working as designed

So appearantly someone created an account with apple using my email since yesterday been getting dozen of emails of login attempts with verify code and now when i try reset password for that account it says need verfiy account from number that isnt mine so how do i reset password using my email only?
edit: i dont own any apple product my only way is use website and when i did i got the message in picture ,all i want is reset this account password so noone uses it anything wrong/illegal

Here is the Apple instructions on how to reset your ID . There is no other magical way to do it. At the bottom of the page, there is a link for Account Recovery instructions, and if you start that Apple will text the link to recover the account in 72 hours or 30 days (yes, it takes that long as an anti-theft measure), so there isn’t a way to get access to it without the phone number. I’m surprised they were able to setup the account with your email address since one of the steps includes clicking the link emailed to them. You want to change your email password if you have not yet done so.

My moron family convinced my grandma to join into a bundle plan years ago and did not do a good job setting things up securely.
They set up an Apple ID for her but everyone forgot the password, the recovery e-mail password, and the answers to the security questions. Now that she has been “logged out” somehow she cant get bavk in to the app store.
She just wants to access the app store to redownload spotify so she can listen to her oldies. Any way to get the password reset without the above mentioned info?We plan on heading to the apple store tomorrow to see what they can do.

Not likely. And don’t go to an Apple store, they cannot assist with Apple ID issues. Call Apple support, or more realistically, creat grandma a new Apple ID.

There isn’t much Apple Support can do. They can’t reset your password. 🤷🏾♀️Try resetting the recovery email password and the Apple ID password. If that doesn’t work. Check to see if Find My is turned on. If so get the proof of purchase and submit a request to remove the Apple ID. After you remove the Apple ID you can erase it and start over. If Find My isn’t on, erase the iPad and start over.
