I have an ikea area rug, I think it is 5 x 7 feet, the pile is about an inch long and its gray. It stinks and I don’t want to go rent a carpet shampoo machine for a small carpet. I’m not sure the exact name of the carpet as I took off all of the labels on it. I live 2 hours away from ikea and I really don’t really wanna buy a new one when I could try to wash this one first
It’s low pile which counterintuitively seems to trap dirt and hair even more easily, and the black and white shows dirt of every color 😭 I’ve tried a squeegee to get out pet hair but it gets out maybe 10% of it and the vacuum picks up maybe another 10. Any tips much appreciated
I have a low pile large area rug from IKEA in my living room. It’s a high traffic area, so even with vacuuming multiple times a week the colors have started to look a little dingy over the years and I can still see some trapped dirt/hair buried deep in the fibers when I look up close. The label says not to wash/shampoo it, but I reallllly want to try a carpet shampooer like a Rug Doctor on it. Has anyone done this and not totally ruined their IKEA rug? Any other tips for how I can clean it safely in a similar manner?
