Just got a 900 Soundbar because it has bass out and I like how it's made. All the reviews mentioned that you could use any sub. Now that I get it I'm reading you can only use Bose subs. I got an SVS 3000micro to pair with the 900. A sub which, in every single way, is a country mile better than the sub Bose sell. Now when I connect it, it doesn't work. I'm very angry with this outcome. I can return the SVS and get the base module 700, but it's a worse sub. Is there any way to trick the 900 into thinking I have a legit base module? I've read that some have had success with aftermarket subs. The only issue is it turns off the base for the 900. Which is what I want anyway. I'm not even sure how the sub out is even verifying what sub is connected to it. I'm just using a standard 3.5mm to rca. Do I need a balanced cable or something? Coming from the world of hifi where a sub out is a god damn sub out this really irritates me. Anyway, sorry for the rant. If anyone has got a sub to work with the 900 I'd really appreciate some help.
When I was rewiring my home theatre recently, I noticed that there is what appears to be a 3.5mm subwoofer out on the SoundBar 900 that I didn't notice before.
Has anyone ever connected a non-Bose subwoofer using 3.5mm? I know I'll have to buy a RCA to 3.5mm adapter, but I would love to repurpose the subwoofer I have at my storage unit.
How?
I tried running a 3.5 mm jack from the bass pin on the soundbar to the sub woofer (analog in) and I can't seem to get a signal
I tried using a mono and stereo cable and none of them work
