Hi @ susheel bharti, · As the TV has no inbuilt BT adapter then unfortunately you cannot connect BT to the TV. · If you connect a BT USB adapter to the USB port the TV will not recognize it and it will also not work. · You can however connect wireless headphones - example only to the headphone socket on the back of the TV. The wireless headphone’s base station connects to the TV and transmits to the headphones. Answer from jayeff on ifixit.com

Hey bud, you can get a streaming stick and plug it into one of the HDMI ports on your TV then switch to that input. You can get a Bluetooth transmitter to connect to the TV. You don't need a whole new TV! More on reddit.com

Can I use headphones with HDMI?

Yes, you can use headphones with HDMI, but not directly. HDMI transmits both audio and video signals, and most headphones do not have an HDMI input. Instead, you can use an HDMI audio extractor or converter. This device connects to the HDMI source and splits the audio signal from the video, allowing you to connect headphones through a standard audio output like a 3.5mm jack or RCA. Here’s a basic setup:

  1. Connect the HDMI source (e.g., a gaming console or Blu-ray player) to the HDMI input of the audio extractor.
  2. Use another HDMI cable to connect the extractor’s HDMI output to the TV.
  3. Connect your headphones to the extractor’s audio output using the appropriate cable or adapter.

This setup lets you receive audio through your headphones while the video signal is sent to your TV via HDMI. Remember, the specific type of audio extractor needed may depend on your headphones’ input requirements and the audio formats you wish to support.

Why doesn't the sound from the TV come through my headphones?

If the sound isn’t coming through your headphones when connected to the TV, consider the following troubleshooting tips:

  1. Check the Headphone Connection: Ensure the headphones are properly connected to the TV or the external device like a Bluetooth transmitter.
  2. Volume Settings: Verify that the volume is turned up on the TV and your headphones.
  3. Audio Output Settings: Check if the TV’s audio output is correctly set to your headphones. Some TVs require you to manually switch the audio output to headphones.
  4. Compatibility and Pairing: Ensure the headphones are compatible with your TV and, if using Bluetooth, that they are correctly paired.
  5. Battery and Charge: If using wireless headphones, check that they’re charged and powered on.

r/hometheater on Reddit: My SmartTV doesn’t support bluetooth headphones. What’s the alternative?
July 23, 2023 -

Hi everyone,

I have a Samsung SmartTV (7 Series) which unfortunately doesn’t support bluetooth, meaning I can’t link my Bose NC700 wireless headphones with it.

What would be the best way to get around that except getting another TV?

Apparently there are Headset for TV like Sennheiser RS 175 that connects through the optical port and provides a pretty good audio quality.

But because I already have my Bose headphones, maybe it would be preferable to buy a bluetooth transmitter.

I guess an Apple TV + would do the trick too, I heard that it’s pretty good for bluetooth connection.

Honestly I’m quite lost, I’d appreciate your help and input! :-)

Thanks for reading, have a nice day.

@jayeff This is an estimate, not a thing that I have set up before. My robotics team has this type of contraption for their main room TV. · Well, to the best of my knowledge here is how it is done. · Supposably the correct BT adapter is the BT adapter linked below. · How you set it up is you plug the adapter into the headphone jack on the TV, then put the BT adapter into pairing mode. Put your BT headphones into pairing mode and the adapter should detect your BT headphones and attempt to pair with them. If the pairing is successful you should have your TV's audio streaming to your BT headphones now. · The TV will still produce audio output thru it's built in speakers, you can disable the built in audio in the audio tab in the TV's settings or by simply muting the TV. · If the TV has no headphone jack you can use the converter I linked to below to convert the component "audio out" ports to a headphone jack. · Component to headphone jack adapter · BT adapter · FYI: I posted this as an answer because I couldn't post it as a comment due to it being too large.
