I just recently got the qx120 fans and am excited to hook them up to my pc, but I’m having trouble connecting the icue link hub to power since it uses a 6-pin pcie. I use an evga 850gm for a sfx power supply, I attached the image of the ports for reference. I’m using Vga 1 & 2 for my 3070 ti, cpu 1, sata 1, and MB ports right now. The only cables that connect to icue link are the 6-pin connectors for vga 1 & 2. I understand that the new hardware needs more power so they have to use pcie, but most people use two pcie ports for their gpu. Is there something I’m missing or do I need a new gpu? I appreciate any help since there’s not a ton of info on icue link yet since their so new.
Hey everyone, I could really use some advice on how to safely power my 2 iCUE LINK System Hubs. I have a Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 850W PSU. Picture attached of the leftover ports on my PSU.
So the iCUE Link System Hub PCIe Adapter Cable goes into the hub directly and then takes power from a PCIe cable from the PSU.
However, I’m unsure which ports to use on my PSU as Corsair website doesn’t mention this, it only says to use a cable into your power supply, but doesn’t give you the actual port to plug into so I want to make sure I plug into the right port to receive the correct voltage and not fry anything.
Given my PSU layout, which specific port and type of cable should I use to power the iCUE LINK hub safely? I bought 2 of these cables to use will these work https://www.moddiy.com/products/4775/6-Pin-to-6-Pin-PCIE-Modular-Cable-30cm-for-Thermaltake-Toughpower.html
There are no manuals for the new icue link products, including the qx fan, so I can't judge it accurately, but looking at the picture of the qx fan package, it seems that the pci-e 6-pin connector is used for power.
Previously, these controllers used sata power. So, it is true that the power limits that each controller can use were low.
It can be judged that the power source was changed to connect 14 devices.
However, the problem is that, unlike sata connectors, there may be many cases in which the number of pci-e 6-pin connectors that can be used is limited depending on the user. Probably more limited if it's not a modular PSU.
There may be no problem connecting up to 2 controllers, but there may be users who are short of 3 controllers.
If it is 3 hub, it is a maximum of 42 devices, so I don't know if there are users who use more than 42, but I think 3 is probably the maximum. Anyway, if you are planning to replace all current equipment with icue link, you should check how much pci-e connector can be used.
And in the case of Corsair, it probably needs to release a light version that uses sata power. If strip products such as the ls100 are released as new products, it would be better to allow these devices to use a controller that uses sata. Strip products don't need rpm or temperature sensors.
I bought a Corsair h150i link lcd to upgrade from my old cooler. The problem is my psu and the link power cable are both female 6 pin pcie and I can not find any information on this. Any help is appreciated thanks!
