Before going down this road, look at some of the many posts on this sub about people wanting to merge multiple Apple IDs. Why create a new Apple ID? What do you mean about starting fresh? There are a ton of reasons to not create multiple Apple IDs as they are not designed for one person to have multiple. I am not saying that you shouldn’t, but you should have a better reason than to start fresh to prevent having issues down the road. If you still go down this road are you running into an error when trying to add the number that is on another account?

Okay so here’s the situation: My Mom and Dad share the same apple ID which makes both their phones basically be seen as one. (Stupid, I know. But they did that back when I didn’t even know what apple was) Though they do have their own photos and whatsapp chats, for example.
Now we want to separate her phone with the current apple ID to get her own, but I‘ve seen a bunch of different ways to do it, but none of them really fit the situation.
My question is, what is the best way to separate the phones + make a new ID for my moms phone WITHOUT losing all her data?

Hey, so a former employee used his company cell phone number to create an Apple ID. After he left the company and we gave the phone number to a new employee he can't create an Apple ID with this phone number as it is already used by a different Apple ID.
Is there any way to create a new Apple ID for the new guy so he can download apps on his iPhone?

You won't have to reset your phone. Sign out of the common Apple ID, to include FaceTime and Messages, create a new ID for yourself, and then sign back in. The contents of the phone should remain intact. Purchases are tied to the Apple ID that was used to purchase them, so they would have to be obtained by the new Apple ID. Depending on your ages, you might consider Family sharing, which would allow shared purchases.
