Has anyone treated their hypothyroidism through lifestyle and diet changes?
There isn't a cure for hypothyroidism. It is a condition that has to be managed with doctor prescribed medicine. Lifestyle changes and reducing stress can help with symptoms and help medication work better. But the key component is medication. More on reddit.com

Anyone ever cure their hypothyroidism through diet and exercise?
Unfortunately, diet and exercise can only do so much. Hypo is the result of your body not producing enough hormones, something your body naturally does and which cannot be fixed by any current medical or non-medical treatment. Whilst eating healthily and exercising regularly is always good for you and will no doubt help energy levels in general, it can’t reverse a natural deficiency. More on reddit.com

Just starting treatment for hypothyroidism

I started on 50mcg tirosint w a TSH of 5. I started feeling better within a few days, quickly dropped water weight/puffiness. I’ve been on it for like 3 weeks now and I notice less joint pain, more energy, etc. I did gain a few lbs over the summer but I was already losing that weight before starting levo. I think any weight gained from hashimoto's was just water retention.

Anyways don’t be nervous! You will feel better soon

Can Hashimoto's be Cured? Top 3 Things to Know
In the short-term, some patients need anti-inflammatory medications and/or steroids to alleviate symptoms from the inflammation, particularly the pain and swelling. So again, can Hashimoto’s be cured by thyroid hormone replacement and/or steroids? The ultimate answer is No, but it can certainly control the thyroid function and symptoms. If the thyroid function is normal, then many patients will feel well. Although the thyroid antibodies are still elevated, normal thyroid function may resolve many of the hypothyroid symptoms they were experiencing.

With this condition, TSH levels are elevated (5-10 mIU/L), while circulating thyroid hormone levels are normal.14 The upper limit of the TSH range for levothyroxine treatment has been debated,15 as well as the effectiveness of conventional thyroid hormone therapy in mild hypothyroidism.16 · Some functional medicine strategies may help with low-functioning thyroid issues by using low-risk diet and lifestyle treatments that may improve thyroid function by addressing the root of the issue. In addition to a comprehensive thyroid evaluation, consideration of an individual patient’s specific disease, lifestyle, comorbidities, and other pertinent factors helps to create a valuable overview for potential treatment direction.

In these cases, Cytomel® (T3) is taken in addition to levothyroxine (T4), in doses that are closer to the normal human thyroid balance of T4 and T3.
