Any way to delete previous owners iCloud account from iPad mini (7.0.3)?

Logging out of iCloud account without password?
Videos
So I recently bought an iPad mini (great deal as well!) from a guy from the internet.
It had a lock code (which he provided after I emailed), and he'd not reset it (and find my iPad is on). Can't seem to do a whole bunch without it.
I've emailed to ask that he remove it from icloud.com find my iPhone and whatever, no reply yet.
One thing to note though, the iCloud address is @mac.com and I emailed him on @me.com (are these linked to the same account? (same stuff before the @)).
I've scoured the internet and seen that apple suggest that I contact him and ask him to remove it from iCloud.com/find ... what do I do if this fails?
I'm on the iPad and can put apps on it through itunes but not directly from the app store on the iPad. I can also synch music and stuff to it.
Seems to be a bit of a problem since the os 7 update, lots of talk on the internet about it. Surely there's some hope for the second-hand ipad/iphone market?
The above failing, do you think that if I waited for a stable jailbreak that could remove his iCloud account from it, does jailbreak let me do things like that, hit a bit reset switch?
Edit: Well thanks for the feedback guys, if anyone should have a similar problem in the future, I'll be doing the following:
-
Continue using the device
-
Politely contact the previous owner, ask them to remove from icloud.com devices.
-
Contact apple? (probably won't help)
-
Wait for a hack or fix to come out
-
Not bother doing a device reset
-
Cry
edit2: Well if you're following, I asked the guy to reset it. Which he did remotely from his iCloud (as per every advice on the internet/apple/forums). However after setting it up as a new iPad, his account linked to it as soon as it hit the internet.
I then talked to Apple who instructed me to reset it - upon doing this it became stuck on 'Activation lock' when it started. I don't know, apple weren't very symphathetic and helpful, despite showing mountains of undisputable proof (emails from the account linked, sales links, bank transfers all of it). Furthermore I felt pretty shit when they told me to do a recovery mode reset, then fobbed me off afterward (I felt nearly in part that it was their fault that I could no longer use the item, because I could use it before iTalked to to them and followed their advice). Guess if you're finding this in the future because you're in the same situation, DO NOT DO A RECOVERY MODE RESET.
I've contacted the seller again, who also doesn't seem to know why this is happening, so I'll send it back and he'll remove his account from the device. Update to follow.
Last edit: Alright so the device returned, no lock code and no iCloud account. Seems to be the only way to do things so far. If you're reading this and you have a locked device, perhaps considering asking the previous owner to unlock it, or to investigate a jailbreak of sorts. All the best.
Hello,
I'm trying to help a church out. They own this iPad but a previous attendee of that church left recently under somewhat bad terms... And apparently this person was the one who took video sermons and uploaded stuff via the iPad, so the iCloud account currently on the iPad is setup by that person - and we do not have the password.
We have the login pin for the iPad because it belongs to the church, but it's unclear if this guy will help us out if we contact him for help to sign out or give us the iCloud account.
The iPad was bought by one of the elders for the church, so it's not an issue of ownership. If it really came to it, the elder who bought the iPad can *probably* dig up the receipt/proof of purchase for Apple in some way or another...
What are our options? Can I even sign out from the iCloud account on the iPad and not worry about it being iCloud locked by him in the future if he decided to be petty? Or can I reset the iPad and then use a different iCloud account on it?
