The obvious first step would be for her to try to find her Apple ID. There's not much else that anyone here can do for you. "Find My" is a service that ties your iPhone (or other device) to an Apple ID. If you can't remember or access the ID, the you can't access the service. If you could track and locate an iPhone without knowing / being able to access the Apple ID it's attached to, then that would mean you could arbitrarily track and locate anyone's iPhone without their permission. That would be insane. Perhaps ask her if she gets any emails from Apple? For a lot of people, their Apple ID is just their primary email. So that would be a start. Alternatively, you could try looking for it the old-fashioned way. Try to recall when you last saw it, retrace your steps, etc.

I will never, ever understand how someone doesn’t know their Apple ID if they have any Apple devices. It’s like not knowing your address or phone number, or not having your car keys.

Is Apple forcing me to buy a second device just to use their features?Certainly not. As I understand your problem, you are not able to receive a verification code on your Mac or sent via SMS to a trusted phone number, and you can find no way to either determine, correct, or provide that information. Contact Apple starting with the following: Contact Support. It will lead you to an appropriate solution, or to speak with an Apple representative who will resolve it. Please let me know how that goes. Thanks!

Ah, the classic Apple 2FA trap 😅. The only legit ways to fix it are: 1️⃣ Get your old number reactivated with your carrier so you can receive the code. 2️⃣ Start Apple’s official account recovery at iforgot.apple.com it can take a few days, but it’s safe. Anything claiming to ‘bypass iCloud’ is a scam. Hang in there!
