r/Outlook on Reddit: How to find the URL for a subscribed calendar?
March 26, 2024 -

Years ago, I found a cool web calendar and subscribed to it in Outlook (not Outlook OWA). I have no idea where I found it, and a search and definitive match could take a very long time. I would like to find out where it is coming from and be able to share the URL/information with others.

It doesn't have an informative/unique name, and I can't find any way to view the URL. Am I nuts to think that something controlled by someone else can't be identified? Of course, if is a "bad calendar", I can unsubscribe/remove it, but what if I want to notify the author of a problem or send them a donation?

How do I identify a subscribed calendar?

Thanks!

I want to export the .ics of a calendar or get it's url, without enabling the calendar sharing with the externals from the admin. Even if it is not possible, I want to know that it is not possible to export calendars' .ics or links, unless we enable external sharing ... Hi @ym The last solution is access Outlook Classic (if you have), click File > Save Calendar and it will save the file under .ics format.

TD;DR As frustrating as it is it seems the only way to accomplish this is only by creating a group and accessing the default calendar of that group. In that case the group id is the same for all the users and by pointing at the default calendar it actually accomplishes what you need. Explanation In microsoft graph api the calendar id(that was created by user A) is different for user A and B for the following request, as it is a base64 encoding of something:

July 2, 2025 - Here’s an example of what an ICS link looks like: webcal://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/[GUID]/[USERNAME]/calendar.ics The ‘webcal://’ prefix indicates that it is specifically an iCalendar URL intended for subscribing to the calendar. Copying and Securing the URL: Copy the generated calendar URL. Store this URL securely and only share it with authorized individuals or applications. If sharing publicly, consider generating a new URL periodically to mitigate potential security risks. The Outlook desktop application has historically offered less direct access to the calendar URL compared to the web app.

Dear Nico,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Based on your description, I understand that you have a concern with “cannot find ics calendar link for outlook calendar to sync it with google calendar”. We are looking into the issue, and before we proceed, we need more detailed information about the situation you are experiencing.

Please help us in isolating the issue by providing the following information:

  1. Which office 365 subscription are you using?
  2. What version of Outlook are you using?
  3. Have you tried the steps in Outlook on the web?

In the meantime, in outlook on the web Outlook (office.com) > Click on Settings > View all Outlook settings > Open Calendar > Shared Calendars >In the “Publish a calendar” section, choose the calendar you want to share (if you’ve only got one Calendar set up it will just be called “Calendar”), select “Can view all details” in the second dropdown, and click “Publish.” This will create two links: an HTML link and an ICS link. The HTML link allows people to view your calendar in a browser and the ICS link will enable people to import your calendar into their calendar program.

We look forward to hearing from you, please let me know and provide a more detailed description so we can provide you with more specific assistance. Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

De Paul | Microsoft Community Moderator
