r/ASRock on Reddit: Official Solution: Disable Dr. Debug LED on ASRock X670E mobos (and potentially all AM5 boards)
April 27, 2023 -

There is a missing option in the ASRock X670E motherboard BIOS, which would allow you to shut off the Debugging LED upon startup. This is available on older boards, but not on my X670E Taichi. Instead, it currently reads out the CPU temps all the time by default. Thankfully, I reached out to ASRock and with some help, got a program that solves the issue and is now downloadable directly from ASRock's website.

  • Download, unzip, and run this program: https://download.asrock.com/TSD/Desktop/Tool/DBGLED.zip This will shut off the LED. Run again to turn it back on.

  • Follow these steps to run it automatically at startup. I set mine to run upon workstation login from the Task Scheduler (accounts for going in and out of sleep mode). https://stackoverflow.com/questions/12491364/how-to-run-application-exe-before-windows-startup

If you're curious on how this program was acquired and why it is safe, see my post here. There is no word on whether or not this will become a feature in a later BIOS update. Currently tested on X670E Taichi (Carrara) with BIOS v1.18. From my understanding this should work on all ASRock AM5 boards, but I can't confirm that. Feel free to comment below with other confirmed working mobos/bios's.

June 19, 2020 -

Is there a way to turn these off after booting up? Im left with an F8 on mine, not sure why, or what this means "F8 - Recovery PPI is not available ". Is there even a way to make them disappear till you need them.

Thanks

Dr Debug Codes

Seems that no one on the internet knows what Recovery PPI is, strange.

edit: seems to be bios flashing related, system works perfectly, so I'm confused by this.

December 3, 2024 - I.e. surely there should be debug codes shown if it were any of the other components? The fact nothing is showing is indicative of PSU or Mobo problems, no? r/ASRock on Reddit: CPU and DRAM Debug LED turns on
January 5, 2024 - Hello, I recently bought a new Asrock B550M Pro4 Motherboard along with a new corsair SSD. Installed windows 11 in said SSD and now I have a problem. My pc won't boot unless I unplug it from the wall and plug it in back again. I have tried many things to get this problems fixed but to no avail and the issue still persists. Even when restarting the PC it wont boot and just show me a black screen. Fortunately this Motherboard has a debug LED and it's lighting up in CPU and DRAM when it can't boot.

July 20, 2016 - The fact that you made it through POST and booted should tell you not to care what is on the debug LED*. This value is really only important if you get hung in the BIOS. Since you are booting to windows successfully... *Curiosity also killed the cat. ... Some codes are not described as some manufacturers are not using them but most are the same regardless if you have ASRock, MSI, Gigabyte, EVGA or anything else. It's because AMI is manufacturing UEFI for all these motherboards.

October 21, 2022 - Time to change your motherboard. I had a similar problem in which the mobo didn't recognize the gpu once it was booting into windows. The display would shut down but the PC would still be running. I cleared CMOS, disconnected every peripheral, CPU, RAM, but it didn't change anything. Finally I change the mobo for an Asus and I haven't had any problem whatsoever. My former Mobo was an ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 AC. Hope you can fix it, but that was my solution.

Question - AsRock X670E Taichi Dr Debug codes meaning? | Tom's Hardware Forum
June 16, 2023 - Your bios may be displaying the temperature after post. You used to have the ability to turn it off in the bios, but that feature was removed on all am5 boards I believe. Search for "x670e taichi Dr debug temp" and you should be able to find the file supplied by ASRock.

Asrock X670E Taichi constantly cycling through debug codes? - CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory - Linus Tech Tips
May 16, 2023 - Hi all, Just built my new PC, using the Asrock Taichi X670E and the debug led is constantly cycling through debug codes and never settling on one. The PC boots, works and I'm not having any issues with it. Any idea what this could be?
