r/Mattress on Reddit: Keep Wearing Body Impressions into New Mattresses
February 12, 2022 -

Last year, my husband and I bought a Kingdown Malbec mattress. It was okay at first, but after about 9 months, my side became really flattened out -- it was like sleeping in a canyon and it was giving me back pain. I submitted a warranty claim to Mattress Firm and they gave us credit to pick out another mattress. We selected a Sealy hybrid mattress, which was delivered about three weeks ago and was good at first. But now, I am noticing once again a body impression/canyon forming on my side, with my side noticeably flatter than my husband's and a ridge in the middle where neither of us sleeps. After three weeks!

I am not a wildly overweight or large person and my husband and I weigh about the same. I don't, however, tend to toss and turn during the night -- I lie there like a corpse -- but I really don't think that should matter, especially after less an a year and, in the case of the Sealy, less than a month!

I will get in touch with Mattress Firm again, but what am I going to do? This is now the second time this has happened, and even more rapidly, and I fear no matter what mattress we choose, it'll be the same story. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Is there a mattress anyone could recommend that might not do this? It seems like the more "mattress technology" these companies come up with, the shittier the products end up being.

People also ask

What mattress won't leave body impressions?
Memory foam mattresses are less likely to leave body impressions compared to other mattress types. The viscoelastic nature of memory foam allows it to conform to the body's shape and distribute weight evenly, reducing the likelihood of permanent indentations. Also of note, higher-density memory foams tend to be more resilient and resistant to body impressions. However, it's important to note that all mattresses may develop slight body impressions over time due to regular use.

Mattress Sagging vs Body Impressions - Amerisleep
Are body impressions in a mattress normal?
Yes, body impressions in a mattress are considered normal and can be expected over time. Body impressions are a natural result of the mattress contouring to your body's curves and providing support where it's needed. They are more likely to occur in memory foam or other conforming materials, as these materials are designed to respond to pressure and body heat.

Can a mattress topper fix a sagging mattress?
Yes, a mattress topper can help restore a sagging mattress’s feel by adding extra padding and support, improving comfort, and reducing the appearance of sagging. However, it may not fully resolve the underlying sagging issue, and even with a topper you may experience discomfort and pain on your mattress.  So it's important to consider the overall condition of the mattress and ask yourself whether a mattress topper or a new mattress is the right solution.

Need mattress that will NOT get body impressions! [Archive] - Baby Bargains & Baby 411 Community
All I have to say is, no matter what else you decide try, do NOT throw out/get rid of that mattress, LOL - store it away somewhere just in case :p. ... We love our custom latex mattress from flobeds. We both have back issues. It is very heavy and not flippable. It is made to body part/size, so flipping it would defeat its function anyway. No impressions at 3 years.
