Hey guys, I'm fairly new to using GIMP and so i was hoping someone more experienced would know where to find a tutorial to make a logo similar to this one

I like this kind of design but would like to make one with a race tyre in the background and my youtube/facebook page 'sam's garage' on there as well as a few other changes.

Here's how I did it. You will likely need to play around with things until it's to your liking. I tried to be as detailed as possible, but depending on your exposure to gimp, you might need to do some supplemental googling. Note: I use windows, so some things my be different if you are using another OS. My sample is not perfect but you get the idea. Create new doc with desired dimensions and resolution. Place a guide at the center to use for symmetry. Add new layer. Click the create new Layer button in layers window. Use circle selection tool to create desired sized circle. Center the selection. (to constrain a circle, hold shift while dragging) Then use the fill to create a solid circle. Edit > Fill with XX Color. Select the outline of the circle. Right click circle layer > Alpha to Selection. Create new layer. Expand the selection. Select > Grow. Enter desired number of pixels. Stroke the selection. Edit > Stroke Selection. Enter desired pixels for line width. Duplicate the original circle layer. Right-click layer > Duplicate Layer Hide the new layer for now. We'll come back to it. Click the eyeball icon to hide. On the original circle layer, select the outline of the circle. Right click circle layer > Alpha to Selection. Shrink the selection. Select > Shrink. Enter desired number of pixels. Cut the selection. Ctrl+x to cut. Click on the hidden layer and un-hide it. Use the rectangle tool to cut out the squares within the filled in circle. Ctrl+x to cut. At this point, you should have something resembling the radioactive symbol. Next, create the "wings". The bars are just modified rectangles. 17. Create a new layer. Use rectangle tool to create a single rectangle of desired size, and fill with desired color. 18. Use circle tool to create a selection on the edge, in the shape of the curve. 19. Invert the selection. Ctrl+i. 20. Select the rectangle tool again. Under the tool options next to Mode, click "Subtract from the current selection". 21. Using the re tangle tool, keep removing from the selection until just the curve is selected. Then cut the curve. 22. Duplicate the rectangle layer two times so you have three bars on one side of the circle. 23. Use the move tool to adjust the bars to the desired positions. 24. Merge down the three bar layers. Right-click topmost bar layer > Merge Down. 25. Repeat for remaining bar so that all three are on one layer. 26. Cut "excess" from the bars by selecting the outermost circle layer. 27. Select inside of the circle using magic wand tool. 28. Select the bar layer again and cut. Clean Up any excess bar on the other side of the circle, if needed. 29. Expand and stroke the bar layer. Repeat steps 6, 8, and 9 to do this. 30. Duplicate the wing in a new layer. 31. Flip that layer horizontally. Layer > Transform > Flip Horizontally. 32. Reposition the new wing so it's symmetrical. At this point, you should have a flying radioactive symbol. 33. Use selection tools to create triangles at the bottom. Create one first, the duplicate and flip as in previous "wing" steps. (I did not do this part in my sample image because the wings were too big but you get the idea) 34. Repeat the above step to create the smaller triangles inside the circle. Next is the text layer. I am assuming you already have your desired font. If not, there are plenty of font sites out there. 35. Enter your text in a new layer. Adjust the font size to your liking. (I used two separate layers and merged down after step 36.) 36. Use the rotate tool to position the text at desired angle. Shift+R. (I used -15 in my sample.) 37. Reposition as desired. 38. Merge down everything except the text layer. 39. Repeat steps 6 & 8 to expand the selection on the text layer. 40. Click on the bottom layer and cut the selection. Tweak, clean up as needed.

I made a logo for my YouTube channel about 3 years ago and I can not remember how I did it hahaha. I'm hoping someone sees this and can help walk me thru how to edit it.

All I want to do is to change the text at the top from Retromania91 to a different name. I want to keep the same font and colors if possible.
