April 15, 2024 - We've given you a few options to open a padlock, however, many of them involved breaking it. Which is fine if that's a last resort. Plus, if you don't have the key then what's the point in keeping it? However, perhaps you want to try other methods first, or you simply don't have access to the keys right now, but will in the future.

If both are not an option, then contacting a locksmith to open or remove your lock would be your resolution. I lost both keys to my Master Lock lock (non padlock). Now I'm unable to get some important items out of storage.

Lock cylinders and spools have inside pistons that must be aligned in order to make the click and open the padlock. To open the pistons of the spool must be in the spool and the same goes for those of the cylinder. When the key is turned in a lock to close it, the spring pushes the cylinder pistons into the spool, locking it.
