May 4, 2022 - Upon realizing that I needed HP's proprietary software to control the fan speed, I installed hp command center (from the microsoft store) and the SDK from HP. I came across an issue recently where something made my hp command center force close on startup. If you have this device you know the fan can be randomly loud sometimes if you don't use thermal profiles from this application.
It might have been from windows updates or 3rd party apps I have no idea. This is a quick and easy fix if it happens to you.
Search for "hp command center" in the windows search bar
click app settings
scroll to reset section and click repair
if needed( I didn't need to) click reset if it doesn't fix the issue
This is a process I forgot about even from being a fairly techie guy and using windows my whole life so I'm sure some new users might have been unfamiliar with the process. In general, this process should work for random app hiccups such as this.

Hi,
The f12/command center key is no longer working. Not sure what I did to make it stop working. The key itself works as using the f12 key for other shortcuts works. It's just command center does not open up when clicked. Command center runs fine when I run it from windows search.

I also just started having this issue. Fn-F12 opens works normally as f12 but just f12 can't open hp command center (which can be run as normal through windows search). I also don't see an icon for it in the system tray but I'm not sure if there ever was one... Edit: Just restarted and now f12 brings up command center as normal. I'll update if it stops working again.

I have just downloaded HP Command Center on my HP Pavilion G6 notebook but the app doesn't seem to work properly. No thermal profile is shown. Here is what I see when I launch it:
The version I downloaded is for Windows 10 1.9.17.0

I believe the thermal profile only shows for both the Envy and Spectre lines, I literally just uninstalled it yesterday and I remember seeing the thermal profile on my Envy. It may be available for the OMEN and Pavilion gaming desktop, but I don’t think it’s available for Pavilion notebooks as someone pointed out here .

November 28, 2021 - Hello, any HP Spectre x360 14 has the Quiet profile under HP Command Center, which is a mode I use frequently. However, when I want to use an external GPU with the Thunderbolt 3 connection, the Quiet profile disappears from HP Command Center. The only way to make it appear again is to disconnect the external GPU, but then I have to choose between eGPU or Quiet profile when I want to use both.
