U can run a server from ur own computer using the server build from mojang and then they can type ur ip into the server list to be able to connect, this can all be looked at in detail on the minecraft wiki

I just got Minecraft Java and I installed optifine and BSL shaders and I’m loving it.
However, coming from bedrock, I don’t really like the whole server system, and I wish there was friends list.
Can I make a world and have friends join without buying a server/realms?

You can have your friend direct connect to your pc by going into your world and opening it to lan. You will then see a port number in the chat. Your friend needs to then go to multiplayer and select direct connect and enter your pc’s IP address and add the port number to the end using a colon ( : ). Example: 123.455.78.90:55555. If you have a firewall for your entire house you will need to use the IP address for that instead of your computers. Note the port will change every time you open to lan which you have to do every time you reopen the world.
