Do I need to have an Amazon account to redeem a gift card?
Yes, you'll need an Amazon account to make any purchase on Amazon, whether you're using a gift card or not.
Can I send my Amazon gift card balance directly to my bank?
Do I need to go through KYC while transferring money from my Amazon gift card to my bank account?
The Switch 2's launch is drawing very near, and I'd like to get my hands on one, but I know that Amazon and Nintendo have been at odds with each other, so I'd like to try and get the system from a physical store instead of through Amazon to avoid any chances of a third-party purchase turning out to be a scam.
Over the past few years on my birthday and Christmas, my aunt and uncle who live a few states away from me have been kind enough to gift me money through Amazon gift cards, and I've saved up enough money from those to cover $400 of the $500 Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle.
I've been trying to look up information on whether I can even feasibly transfer the gift card money in my Amazon account to my bank account, but the closest thing to a clear yes-or-no answer is a line I found from Amazon that said that gift cards can only be used for purchases from the website. While I could be wrong, I believe that shortens to a "no," which, to be fair, makes sense, but does anyone have a clearer answer on whether transferring gift card money to a bank account is possible or not?
Like I said, I'm hoping to avoid any potential of getting scammed by a third-party seller, but if I have to go third-party through Amazon to use the gift card money, I'll just do that and hope for the best.
I recently was waiting for a refund and although I vividly remember selecting that I'd like for my refund to be refunded back to my card, but it went to my gift card balance.
Is it possible that I can buy something with that balance and then just cancel the order, having it refunded to a specific account? I don't use amazon enough to have a gift card at all.
Or is there any other way to have it refunded?
UPDATE: I have contacted amazon through the online customer service and they were able to send the refund to my personal account. I will leave this post up for anyone with a similar question in the future!
