It sounds like the remove button is missing because that is your only domain in Google Workspace, or you have no secondary domains. You must promote a secondary domain to be the new primary before removing the current primary domain. Answer from GWS-Dustin on reddit.com

r/googleworkspace on Reddit: How to deactivate my domain name?
June 2, 2025 -

I signed up to a free trial a while back for a google workspace with a custom domain for my business. I would now like to deactivate the domain so I can sign up via Squarespace because my google workspace has all been pre paid for.

After trying and trying to proceed setting it up, Squarespace contacted me requesting that I get in touch with google to deactivate so they can process google workspace because it's currently locked.

I've followed most suggestion and help forums but nothing works. I've also contacted Google multiple times and had no response.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My business is currently on hold until this is setup.

I've also tried the following...

Menu Account -> Domains -> Manage domains.

- Find the domain that you're removing and click Remove

- Click Remove Domain to confirm.

However when I navigate to this page there is no "remove" option.

All I see is "change primary domain" or "set up redirect".
