I have this speaker and it was working well, until I recently moved and speaker was not plugged into an outlet for almost 3 months.

When I plugged it in, the white lights keep spinning and all of the buttons are not responsive.

I also noticed that there’s a “service” usb outlet underneath the speaker. Is there something I can DIY instead of sending the speaker back to the Bose Service Center ?

When you moved, you probably changed your Wi-Fi. So when you plugged it back in months later, it could not access your old Wi-Fi to communicate to Bose's servers to check for any updates that Bose may have released since it was last turned on. So it seems like your speaker is frozen in an update loop, but luckily there is a way to get it back up and running. You will need to put it into " Recovery Mode " and then connect directly to your speaker to give it the new Wi-Fi's login details: 1 Disconnect the speaker from power and wait 30 seconds 2 Reconnect the speaker to power 3 When the light bar illuminates, follow the steps below within ten seconds: Tip: Do not rapidly alternate button presses. Wait one second between presses On the speaker, tap the Action button once Tap the Microphone Off button once Tap the Action button a second time Tap the Microphone Off button a second time The light bar will blink green to indicate the speaker has entered recovery mode Then: If the speaker has not previously connected to your Wi-Fi network, follow the steps above, then try connecting to Wi-Fi using the alternate method. On a computer or mobile device, open the Wi-Fi settings menu and connect to the network name that begins with Bose followed by the product name. For Android device users, a notification may appear stating that the Wi-Fi has no internet access. Open the notification and select Yes to stay connected. 5. Open a web browser and go to http://192.0.2.1 to view the set-up screen. 6. Select your home Wi-Fi network name from the drop-down list and enter the network password. I had this same problem. The instructions from NeonsNight did not work for me... I never got a WiFi network option that started with 'BOSE'. The white light just kept jogging from left to right (though it would blink green for a few moments as described in NN's post). Here is how I ended up fixing it after coming across a video out of the Philippines (not in English, and it had a few cuts in it that required me to guess what happened): Please note, the directions from the BOSE website below did not work for me exactly as written. I will provide the steps I took (blending the video and the instructions) to finally get my speaker working again... Go to this website: https://www.boseapac.com/en_in/support/article/updating-your-home-speaker-500.html Download the UPDATE file from the website above. Save it to your Desktop. While your BOSE speaker is plugged into the wall (and the white light is running left to right), connect the speaker to your computer with the USB wire. Open up your available WiFi networks. There be a 'BOSE' option. Connect to it. Go back to the website above and click on the hyperlink: http://203.0.113.1:17008/update.html You will be taken to a page where you can upload the Update File you previously downloaded. Once you have uploaded the file successfully, you will get a check mark and it will say, "UPLOAD COMPLETE! Your product will begin updating. Once the update is complete, it'll restart and be ready to play. This should only take a few minutes." The white bar will continue to jog from left to right. It will not appear as though anything has changed. You will become concerned. Wait a few minutes. Do not unplug anything. Wait a few more minutes. Your concern will continue to grow. Ignore it. Wait a little longer. Contemplate unplugging the speaker and starting over. Don't do it. All of a sudden, your patience will pay off. The speaker will simply turn off - the white light will go away. Confusion mixed with joy will now set in. You've done it!!! The speaker is saved. You can now turn your speaker on using the button on top. It has been updated and will function as before (at least that happened for me). Unplug from the computer and enjoy!!! My speaker is back to working correctly. I hope this helps!!

Hi, i recently moved houses, and i accidentally put my home bose 500 speaker into recovery mode it has been stuck in it for the whole week since i isnt connected to any wifi, non of the buttons seem to be working except the mute button, i have searched all over the internet, youtube and have followed all customer support instructions and non of them seem to work, so since reddit has saved my devices countless times i am asking how to exit this state of update.
