I'm renovating an entire house. All the door frames, windows, and skirting boards are Jarrah with some ancient stain or lacquer which is now so degraded it looks like matte brown paint. My question is, how can I brighten all this trim up? I don't have time (or the fortitude right now) to strip it all and refinish. Is there a stop gap I can use just to at least make it brighter and bring back some of the natural wood grain? Thanks!

I'm in a bit of a predicament and desperately need your advice. My friends in Paris generously let us stay in their apartment while they're away on vacation. Unfortunately, there was a mishap with a nail polish spill on their beautiful wooden table, and my attempt to remove it ended up damaging the varnish quite badly. Now, I'm left with just about 3 days to fix this before they return.
While I admire woodworking, my skills are pretty much non-existent (I did dabble a bit during art school), so I could really use some guidance here. My initial thought was to use n000 metal wool and varnish, but I'm not entirely sure about the process.
I would truly appreciate any suggestions or tips you may have to help me rectify this situation and restore the table to its former glory. Thank you in advance for your expertise and guidance!
Cheers,
