How do I save a file on my Mac desktop without using OneDrive
Videos
I don't know if it's my laptops fault, or the apps fault, but I can't save my files. I have Office 365, and I have the Excel app installed. I could save my files just like a couple weeks ago, but now when I want to autosave files, there's buffering with a text "Loading services", and it can load like that for hours, or when I just want to save a file, I can't choose to which folder I want it saved, meaning I just can't save it. I have the version 16.78.3 of the app, and my laptop is an M1 MacBook Air. How can I fix it or what can I do? Any advice or help would be appreciated!
Hi MonicaBailey1,
First, my pleasure to assist you.
As per your description, please don’t worry, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.
By default, when we save a file in Mac OS X, the Save As prompt pushes to a sub directory like "Documents," . You can choose to save your work directly on your Mac OS by doing the following:
1.Open Microsoft Excel (or another Office app such has PowerPoint, Word).
2.When you are ready to save the file, click the Savebutton on the menu bar at the top, or choose File> Save.
3.When the save dialog box appears, click the On My Macbutton.
4.Click Whereto select a local storage location (e.g. Desktop, Documents) and click Save

I appreciate your understanding and stay safe!!

Hi Monica,
Please go to the menu bar and choose Excel > About Excel. This displays your current version. It should be version 16.58
The "On My Mac" button is at the lower left corner of the Save As dialog. This is a toggle. If it says "OnLine locations" it is already set to save on your Mac.
