r/DIY on Reddit: Sealant for chalk paint
May 16, 2019 -

Hi all, looking for some advice please!

I’m trying to upcycle an old TV unit. My second project, first was a disaster so I’m a bit apprehensive about it.

I’m painting it with a couple of coats of Rustoleum chalk paint. As the surface of this is going to be used (obviously to place TV etc) I’m thinking I will need to seal it? But with what?

Researching on Google is very conflicting. Seal it, don’t seal it. Use wax, avoid wax. Paint it, spray it etc...

Can anyone give me some advice so my painted piece will last and handle the usual wear and tear? I am based in U.K.
