r/vinyl on Reddit: Is there anyway to see if PayPal “Pay in 4” is eligible BEFORE you confirm order on Discogs?
August 20, 2023 -

This has been such a huge stick in the mud for me! A lot of my orders are oversees and over 100€ … PayPal tells me I should be good for orders up to $1,500 and I’ve used the “pay in 4” feature twice and it worked perfect and I was super stoked… the next time I tried and the option never came up for “pay in 4” so I felt forced to pay in full because I didn’t want to back out of the sale (I took it as a fluke) ……But then I tried again and the exact same thing happened,(the option wasn’t there) so once again I felt forced to pay in full. I just wish there was some way to know beforehand because some of these records I would only buy because of that PayPal feature.

The max amount you can break down into 4 payments on each Pay in 4 plan is $1500, which would be $375 every 2 weeks. However not everyone can get approved for even 1 Pay in 4 plan that lets you spend $1500 let alone numerous plans. Some people have a prequalified amount that will only be shown in the app only under the Pay Later section. If you have a prequalified amount that will give you an indication on how much you will most likely get approved for on a Pay in 4 plan. But be aware, the more plans you have open your prequalified amount might go down or way down. I have 5 open plans ranging from $120 to $400 and my prequalified amount is still $1500. But I'm sure if my 5 open plans were for much higher amounts I wouldn't have $1500 still showing as a prequalified amount. My guess is I have around $2500 to spend on Pay in 4. So if I had no plans going and I decided to buy something using Pay in 4 for $1500, I would most likely only have $1000 left to use on other plans until I paid some of my $1500 Pay in 4 plan off. It all depends on your credit, your payment history, how much you use PayPal, etc... But most likely if you are showing a $1500 prequalified amount in the app in your PayPal account and use that whole amount in 1 plan - you probably won't have another $1500 to use again on another plan or plans. You might not be approved at all after that until you pay down some of your big Pay in 4 plan. And lots of people aren't able to ever get approved for a $1500 Pay in 4 plan so there's that too. Hope this helps.

r/paypal on Reddit: How do I check and/or change my maximum pay limit?
December 19, 2020 -

When I looked up "how to check your maximum pay limit on paypal" it gave me instructions that don't work, those would be: " Log in to your PayPal account. Click My Account at the top of the page. On the Overview page, click View limits next to your PayPal balance. Click Lift Limits. "
I went to my account and besides there being no overview page (There was one called "account" so I assume thats overview), there is no "View Limits" or even my paypal balance, how do I check and or change my limit?

If you have not done so, Read our FAQ! which answers most questions. Please note that with the current CoVid-19 crisis that support is very limited at PayPal. No one here can fix that or offer solutions. The most common answer is to telephone PayPal support. However at this time such a call may be frutile, though you can keep trying. Don’t know where they put the View limits now, they changing their user interface so much. I reckon it should be obvious once you log on and see the summary page. Unverified PayPal accounts have sending, receiving and withdrawal limits, once you verify your PayPal account, those limits are lifted so no need to know them unless you don’t plan on verifying account. If your PayPal is US based, for best performance, it’s best to verify. Do two out of these three things to verify your account: Link a bank Link a card Provide Tax ID number (SSN, ITIN, EIN) [If you start selling or want to hold and spend a PayPal balance, PayPal will ask for this eventually.] Note: Verifying a PayPal account is different from identity verification (where they limit your account functions and ask for documents to verify the info entered into your account). Once you do this, you’re unlimited. Receive away. Just be sure it’s not an overnight flood of money. Start small/simple and work your way towards larger amounts slowly. Play the long game. Slow, steady, gradual growth. A user can send up to $60k but limited to $10k per single transaction which means you can receive that much. Withdrawal is unlimited as well.
